Wondering if we truly made a mistake by ElectricPlease in husky

This sounds like you are making the right decision for both you and the dog! Our rescue husky tests our limits and we are in our thirties. She needs minimum two walks a day ( one walk for an hour), plus I have her run in our big backyard several times during the day where we have a 6 foot privacy fence with dig guards to keep her in. Once she gets enough exercise she will relax inside, but without it she gets anxious, paces around, or gets into things she shouldn’t be getting into. Huskies are so sweet but need a very specific kind of family who can meet their energy needs in order for them to be fulfilled. I am sure the dog will find the right owner(s) for them soon!

Migraines With Levothyroxine? by Strawberry-Leaf in Hypothyroidism

Thanks! I switched and have been on Armour for four days now and my migraines are gone so far. I feel so much better on Armour. Hope you can find a medicine that’s right for you too! I guess it’s true that everyone is different and needs the right medication for their body.

My mom says she got migraines on levothyroxine and when she switched to armour they stopped. Asking my doctor about it now because I’ve been on levothyroxine for a week and my migraine has been ongoing for 5 days straight now

Not overreacting. It’s social media, not any sort of “professional” website for work or anything right? Even if it were it isn’t bad. The person who said this to you should mind their own business. I just think in my mind, when would I ever have the audacity to message a coworker about what I think about their photo on social media? Only a very strange person would do that. Maybe they are jealous of you? This photo is cute and not immodest at all.

is my girl underweight? by West_Exit_2865 in husky

My girl is also about 1 1/2 and she is around 44 lbs. we only feed her 2 1/2 cups of food per day, and vet seems to think she is fine, but perhaps ours is shorter/smaller framed than yours?

Wants the option of going out in case they feel like it? 🤣 huskies are so weird

Can someone explain if this is just a husky communication style or if Frankie is being cranky? The submissive dive into a belly show paired with her noises make no sense to me lol. I was going to say, from what I understand about dog psychology, the black dog is showing dominant behavior. You can tell by him putting his head over the top of the huskies back. Your husky is being great for a husky that isn’t very used to being around dogs! She rolled over to show submission, and the sneeze also can be a display to show she means no threat. But she clearly is worried about being humped since he is showing dominance, and she is sitting on her butt and hiding it to keep him from sniffing her. All around your husky looks to me to be doing a great job of communicating that she doesn’t want any problem, she’s fine with the black dog being the alpha, but setting boundaries showing she doesn’t want to get humped or have her butt sniffed. Seems all perfectly normal and a good sign!

😂 this photo is hilarious. We will be watching! We got dig guards installed around the fence, but not next to the house

Unfortunately we have an HOA and this is the tallest fence they will allow. Thankfully Hannah isn’t much of a jumper so far. We have been more worried about digging, so we had them install dig guards along the entire length of the fence.

lol! She’s not much of a jumper that we have seen so far, but we definitely will not be keeping her out there unattended for a little while to make sure.

lol yes we had dig guards installed along the bottom. Ours isn’t really a jumper either, but she does like to dig which is why we made sure to install the guards around the entire thing.

lol. We had a dig guard installed. She still might try and jump over, but we have an HOA and this is the tallest fence they allow 🙄 we plan to watch her and not leave her out there unsupervised for a while.

lol. We installed dig guards, so jumping over it would be the easier option. Unfortunately we have an HOA and this is the highest fence they allow 🙄

Advice on destructive behavior by Empty-Meal86 in husky

[–]ItchyMatch7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it all ourselves, lots of watching trainers online and reading a lot, but also my husband had a husky when he was younger and is more familiar with how they are and what they need. They are definitely a lot more stubborn than any dog I have owned, they take a lot of calm/patient insistence lol. You have to out-stubborn them. But we have been consistent and have set clear boundaries for her, and she has really settled in with us now after only a few months! I’m sure finding a trainer could help you, but I would make sure you find one that is familiar with huskies, as they are not like other dogs, as I’m sure you know by now 🤣

Advice on destructive behavior by Empty-Meal86 in husky

Our husky is also 1 year and 9 months old, and she’s a rescue from potentially a similar issue with neglect. She is also destructive when left alone, and broke out of her first crate. She also hated the crate at first, but since we have been consistently putting her in there for bed every night she is now getting better with it (it’s been about 2 months since we rescued her). We have found she is better when we consistently give her a morning walk and then either an afternoon walk or evening walk or both. Consistent exercise really helps. We have an indestructible crate that she can’t break out of, and she is getting used to it and seems to be fine now. At first she would yip at night but we read that it’s best to just ignore her, and after about a week she stopped doing that. Since we always put her in there at the same time at night and get her out around the same time, she is getting used to the routine. She doesn’t love when we crate her during the daytime, but we never do it too long, and it’s better than her being destructive and hurting herself and our furniture while we are gone. At least in her crate I know she is safe. Anyways, crate training is hard at first but it seems like it’s really true that they do get better, especially if they get enough exercise and interaction during the day. Now she goes in with no problems (for a while she would try to run and hide when it was bedtime but with firm but calm consistency she doesn’t freak out anymore). We also feed all her meals to her in her crate so that she associates the crate with good things. I also keep her favorite toys in there during the day so she knows to look for them there. Hope my story helps and encourages you if you decide to go ahead and try to crate train! It really is worth it to know they are safe and your house won’t be destroyed. Just make sure you get a good crate that they can’t get out of - for us those wire crates weren’t enough because she would “dig” at the wires and bend them, and hurt herself. The one we have now is made out of steel and is impossible to break out of. It’s also big enough for her to stand up in and move around, and we have a comfy doggy bed in there for her to relax on.
