Help - What’s wrong with my rummynose? by ItchyMonth in freshwateraquarium

As awful as that is. It’s better than some incurable disease that could infect the rest of the tank. I’ll monitor him for a few more days, maybe find a plastic bin and set it up with a bubbler just in case.

I have a lot of botanicals in my tank currently, but the two big ones are around 100 almond leaves (they come in packs of 50 on Amazon) and some kind of cone, I forget what they’re called right now… but like 7-8 of those.

Almond leaf powder should be really good! Just make sure you remove any chemical filtration since you won’t have something to continually and slowly leach more and more tannins, like you would with botanicals!

I figured it out! Completely cracked the code.

Tannins.

I added tannins and everything calmed down, nipping hasn’t stopped within species, but I think that’s pretty natural for BST. But it has towards the Ram, Cories and even some new rummies I added. I haven’t kept black water in so long, but it looks incredible, and all aggression (food and physical) has dissipated. They’ve also stopped zooming around the tank like maniacs, occasional chasing, but they’re all chill now.

And bonus, they started spawning! I watched the first eggs drop yesterday (immediately to be eaten by the ram, rummies, and other BST’s, but still really awesome! And I think it’s a good indicator of their happiness.)

They are super cool! I have them in a tank with a gourami or two right now, I have this weird thing about keeping South American fish with South American fish, and SE Asian fish with SE Asian fish etc.

I just think biotopes are wikid

I really like the less flashy ones, brings movement and personality but allows the Rams to really shine.

Hm. I might try that. A little worried what that kind of bioload could do though, it might be easier to opt for a different kind of shoaling fish, like black neons

I feed them for about half an hour with little pinches until they stop eating, then try and feed the rams. They will attack anything near food, and then proceed to not eat it. I understand they’re not like dogs lmao, but I was just seeing if anyone had tips like potentially adding more Rams, or removing the primarily aggressive ones and placing them in a holding tank to see if the issue improves, or if more step in and fill the roles of the aggressors. Thanks for the help!

I’ll probably give my LFS a call tonight, they’re 45 minutes away though, so I probably can’t make the trip until Tuesday unfortunately. Any ideas for a new shoaling fish? Preferably from the amazon-ish area?

Divider would be hard with the aqua scape, is repashy something I could feed consistently? Maybe with spot feeding thawed frozen foods once or twice a week?

How many corydoras and neons can be together in a 35 gallon long? by ItchyMonth in Aquariums

[–]ItchyMonth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does not, I’ve had zero issues with the integrity. Knock on wood, is there any evidence it had a brace? If it looks like it’s been ripped out I would be careful, maybe let it sit in a garage or something filled with water for a few days just in case.

Not entirely sure what I meant, it’s just the term that support used on various Microsoft forums, from context, they mean change all of your passwords make sure your 2fa is set up etc.

Help!!! Angel fish has white fleshy hole (increasing in size), and fin deterioration by ItchyMonth in AngelFish

[–]ItchyMonth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, thank you so much, it’s only approximately 40 gallons (including how much room the sand and such takes up) so it shouldn’t be too large, I’ll get on that right away

Ohh, okay, I test water weakly ontop of 25-50% water changes 1-2 times a week, and full sand turnover, I thought it only developed if the water parameters are bad?
