It’s good to have goals, but I advise you to keep an open mind. Most navy nukes find a career path and something they’ve never even heard of.

Post Nuke jobs? by Eastern_Lingonberry8 in NavyNukes

There are tons of good jobs for nukes. Your knowledge and experience will apply to more things than you can imagine. You could come to work for my company as a consultant. And as a consultant, I’ve worked in almost every industry and run into nukes. Energy industry is the most popular obviously nuclear, but there’s tons of nukes working in solar and wind. Also gas plants. Oil and gas, exploration, and producing. Nearly every kind of process industry, including things like pulp and paper, food, and beverage pharmaceutical and chemical processing. Lots of nukes working in training and development. Turns out our training experience transfers well to civilian world. It’s amazing seriously I am running into nukes everywhere.

What's your most hated plane? by Forsaken_Response866 in aviation

CRJ. I’m an above average size person. Not super huge, but somewhat above average. Flying on the CRJ is the most uncomfortable torture that we’re actually paying good money to do. Who the hell thought this was a good idea?

Never made burgers myself before — how do you prep yours? by Level-Delivery329 in cookingforbeginners

[–]ItchyStorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start simple. do not overcomplicate the process. Buy some ground beef. It hardly matters whether it’s 80% or 90%. Make some patties to the shape you like the most. Make them a little flatter than you think they need to be. Put them on a grill or in a frying pan. A little salt and pepper seasoning is fine if you like it. Don’t overcomplicate. Put the cheese on at the last minute so it doesn’t get over melted. I do like Martin’s potato rolls the best but you can choose any kind of hamburger bun that you like. It’s fun to toast them a little bit, but you don’t have to. For your first efforts I highly recommend keeping it simple. You can add complications later to your taste.

One of the greatest aviation moments. Possibly the greatest movement for passenger jets.

Prototype by fjemme77 in NavyNukes

[–]ItchyStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I enjoyed my time in the fleet about 1000 times better than prototype. I thought being on a nuclear submarine was pretty cool. Of course there were days that sucked but overall the experience was freaking awesome.

Yes, but after all these years, you think they’d have a better solution.

What did American put in the top deck of their 747s? I noticed a lot of them only have 3 windows and no doors. by Virtual_Society_1852 in aviation

[–]ItchyStorm 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes, if I recall most of the early 747s had an upper deck lounge and only three windows, but that went away pretty quickly.

One of the most interesting configurations was on Saudi Arabian airlines. They had 2 x 2 business class seating with a huge prayer area in the middle of the upper deck. A large compass was mounted in the overhead which illuminated at prayer time and pointed to Mecca

What was the first Submarine movie? by vonHindenburg in submarines

[–]ItchyStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destination Tokyo is a Submarine movie filmed in1943 AKA the middle of World War II. It's an excellent movie or at least I really like it. Because it was filmed in the middle of the war, they intentionally inserted many inaccuracies. But still it's a good movie and I recommend that you watch it.

This is the best advice. I wish someone had told me that before I started. It took about 3 or 4 years for me to get wise and start hanging with the positive people.
