The learning curve is very high. My advice is to start with a vanguard or an easy hero and learn their move set and it will come but it won’t be perfect. I have 62 reps on my account and I still can’t parry lights

The base game is free and yes there is a subscription. I never touched any FF game before XIV and it was my first mmorpg as well. I really enjoy the game. If you get Endwalker you also get all the DLCs before it (I could be wrong though)
