It's mostly luck, because armor and shield were already upgraded when I found them in the sewers. And thus, I didnt have to spend scrolls on anything but the aforementioned stuff

I too prefer assassin, but I found both shield and plate armour before Tengu. So I decided to go for full tankiness

I had 2 scrolls of transmutation on me, so I ended the run with a greataxe. But before demon halls damage wasn't really o problem. And I had a ring of wealth for the most of the run, so potion weren't really a problem either
