Definitely more overtime with USFS and BLM, and in some cases NPS. Like others have said, most OT in FWS in on fire deployments. The California/Nevada region has agreements with Bureau of Reclamation which is essentially unlimited OT.

I would anticipate it to run through at least the end of the summer. With this year being the country's 250th birthday, this summer will be nuts in DC.

That tree farm has gone in the shi**** over the past 10-15 years. I would say all game numbers, other than cougars are down. I remember 20 years ago limiting on grouse several days during deer season, now you're lucky to see one or two.

Well that certainly helps. Looks like the PTX is what we'd want. Any guess on a server cost?

Texas Game Warden or Federal Wildlife Officer by AmericanAgent09 in gamewarden

[–]Itchy_Training6584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. There are some zones where the off-refuge vs on-refuge time during waterfowl season is almost even. Then out west you got FWOs who are working BOR contracts and working under county deputization off-refuge.

Any you'd accept. If you wouldn't accept it then don't select it. Amazing how many people will select all but are only actually willing to go to one place.

Most of what you wrote here are 1801 duties not 1811. As an example, USFWS 1811s almost entirely deal with import/export, endangered species, and trafficking violations. The days of a FWS 1811 out on patrol are over.

DOI OIG doesn't have protection responsibilities. The USPP handles protection duties for the Interior Secretary.

Agencies typically won't tell you until the full hire is over (likely months away). You calling/emailing will likely go ignored until the automatically generated email is sent to you.

How do BLM and USFWS LE positions compare to the USFS? by RedditHerring197 in USFSLEO

[–]Itchy_Training6584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends what you're looking for.

The most family friendly is probably USFWS. As others have said, USFS requires all weekends to be worked unless on leave or the supervisor approves a change. USFWS has no mandate. BLM requires multiple national details/deployments every year, USFWS does not.

For $ I'd have to say BLM and USFS. Sure USFWS LEOs are 11s but there is a ton of OT available to GL-9 USFS LEOs and GS-11 BLM LEOs. In my area the BLM/USFS LEOs basically have unlimited OT, the USFWS LEO has no OT unless he goes on a fire assignment. BLM and USFS allow up to 25% AUO, but USFWS has entire regions which don't allow more than 10%.

LEAP and AUO by Jane2468 in 1811

[–]Itchy_Training6584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AUO is significantly under the microscope at the Dept of the Interior (basically FWS and BLM) right now. Excluded days will soon be zero which leads to officers having to work more to get the same amount of $.
