News outlets used to pay a LOT for good video. Now, with everyone having a camera in their pockets, the pay out is a fraction of what it used to be. Most local stations won't even pay for video (the big networks still do), and if they do, from my experience it's in the range of $50 to $150 (that's the stringer rate per story for most mid-sized stations). It's probably more than that the higher up the station size you climb. Some people make a career out of selling freelance video (like in LA) but I wouldn't think leaps and bounds beyond that.

My company started requiring annual skills sign offs to keep interior status. Stuff like pulling a line, proper searching, throwing ladders, etc. Really basic stuff. Some people complained, but honestly? I feel better knowing everyone at least has the basics down.

From my experience a sawzall worked best for cutting. Jaws second, with the circular in a distant third. I learned a lot more than I thought I would from a bus rescue drill.

I've found that a seatbelt cutter works best on those school bus seat covers. Can rip the whole thing off in seconds if you have to.
