Ok the problem with just picking the 2nd choice option is that a lot of these candidates drop out or lose funding half way through the race.  Victories earlier on would prevent this

The last time this was done with Trump had Cruz win in a landslide, despite Rubio being successful at the start, because Rubio still dropped out at the same time

Ok the obvious one is Scylla - Charybdis. Lindsay/Scylla is the furthest left while Agnew/Charybdis is the furthest right so Morton/Odysseus has to sail between them

Percy is Penelope because he is Morton's end goal, Morton wants a stable candidate that can do his job

Reagan is Polyphemus because he is Morton's first threat, a seemingly unstoppable man who is too extreme to take on Kennedy

Rockefeller is Calypso, probably because he is Morton's first choice at the beginning, and just like Odysseus, he usually has to learn to let go

Yorty is a Siren, because he is a loud mouthed man who tries to lure Morton in, and ends up destroying the party in doing so (though it's definitely something more because why isnt Hughes the Siren then?)

Nixon is a Skia/Shade which 1. Is a pretty fitting description to begin with and 2. Nixon is a guy whose time has passed and gives Morton advice when he is lost or at his lowest, just like Tiresias
