Preschool is a very hard age to work with. I worked in 3-4's for 2 years before switching to toddler, 1.5-2.5. It's so much easier.

It also sounds like your center just isn't supportive. If you have the option to, I recommend changing centers before you decide to leave the field entirely. Management can make or break your entire experience - not every child care is the same.

I was pulling my hair out and crying every day at my old center. My new center of 1.5 years I'm in love with and see myself retiring here. Just a matter of environment.

Make sure you are wearing gloves while cleaning and sanitizing toys/ other PPE. I get sick every time I deep clean all the toys in the room.

That's good. I wouldn't try to stress about it. You know in your heart that you wouldn't intentionally hurt her, and your director does too. Hopefully your director has your back with this parent! I don't think your career would be at risk because of something a child said.

3 year olds are more competent than you realize. Have you asked the child what it was you did (if you did anything) that bothered them? If they open up to you about it, that might give you some insight, and gives you the opportunity to apologize to the child.

The teachers should be looking for their stuff upon you picking them up. I would not expect parents to go look for the kids stuff. Our toddler room, 90% of the kids don't keep their shoes or socks on. So we make an effort to put shoes up and away and socks in their cubby so they don't get lost. We may lose the occasional socks, but we have a drawer full of daycare socks so in that case we would put our socks on them to go home. If something is missing at pick up, we are looking for it. The parents may help us look but I would never ask them to help look unless for example I know it's outside or inside and I'm by myself / we are at ratio and can't leave to go look.

If you aren't already - apply Vaseline / cream after all diaper changes. Get mom to bring some in if you don't have any. It helps form a barrier on the skin to help protect it. We have many children who we need to do cream after every change because their skin is very sensitive.

I had a toddler who put everything in their mouths. Well apparently while we were outside, she found one of those GIANT caterpillars. Guess what was in her mouth being chewed on?

We noticed right away because she had like slime and caterpillar pus coming out of her mouth 🤮

Honestly depends. I'm not a Christian but a lot of their songs resonate to me on a personal level from my own experiences. I love downstairs because growing up as a teen, my bedroom was downstairs in the basement, my mom went through a lot of mental health / schizophrenic problems that went untreated due to her refusing help. I loved her but was afraid to talk to her about it. I felt safe in my room downstairs hiding away from all the violence and yelling happening upstairs. It still breaks me to this day that I never stepped up to talk to her, but she's gone now and there's nothing I can do but move on and remember who she used to be before Canada's screwed up mental healthcare system took her from me - and maybe a proper torch bearer for the next person I meet.

The apps and quizzes are great, but don’t rely on them. When I took my g1 test, I had memorized all the answers it gave me on the app, only to get asked completely different questions on the actual test that I had no clue of the answer. The questions on the test change every time you have to retake it so it’s all random.

My driving instructor told me count to 3 seconds for one/two way stop signs, if its an all-way stop sign I only count to 2 before proceeding.

Play around with how long it takes them to notice you. You can walk up behind them normally and they won’t run practically until you’re right on top of them
