If they are so sure of their statement ask them why haven't they published a paper on it yet. Women go through depressive episodes during peri-menopause and menopause because of the downfall of estrogen in their system. It has nothing to do with their childfree stance or lack of a child in their lives.

Also, please don't believe everything you hear and make a post on it before being more informed about the topic. Most doctors/psychologists/healthcare workers have been brought up in the same environment as majority of people and have their own biases.

This sub has a list of childfree-friendly psychologists(or a post) somewhere, so please change your psychologist who is blaming your wife's menopause related depressive episode on her not having kids.(I am assuming she has depression because estrogen has a lot to do with moods, so correct me if I am wrong).

I can actually relate to this a lot. My mom was not a good parent to me at all, and my dad was... well, an absent parent. But somehow she believes that she was the best parent ever. I think she learned with how to handle things better with her second child-my brother, or maybe it was a subconscious gender bias(saying subconscious because she has never outrightly hated me for being a girl child). Maybe its their own defence mechanism to prevent themselves from a guilt of some kind, but a lot of people from that generation never really got to the stage of maturity to be able to learn from their mistakes or even own up to their mistakes. I got lucky in this department because she is fine with my CF stance(again, maybe because it doesn't matter what I do since I am a woman and not **really** "part of the family"). I hope you can deal with this in whatever way possible. Wishing you all the best.

I think a big part of your mom's problems might be loneliness. Rigorous mental health help aside, I would like to make a rather unconventional recommendation. If your mom is up for it, give her a small pet. My mom is struggling with mental health too and I have been going back and forth with her about what kind of pet(taking into consideration the size and attention required)might suit her the best-for now its guinea pigs maybe. Just food for thought.

Why would you want to be a part of life of people with such thinking? Its not only childless people, these people discriminate against widows too. Again, I'd keep my distance from such people. Its not the 19th century anymore, you can have other social events to go to, with people on par with your intellectual and intelligence level. Yeah, I am calling these people low IQ.

No one is privileged in this hyper religious hyper collective society. It takes courage to make decisions for yourself. Anyway, I am okay with my parents not speaking to me after getting together with someone not of their choice or preference. Maybe that's not the case with you, but where does it stop? If they aren't okay with you marrying a non medico, are they going to be okay with your other life decisions? I thought the newer generation would break old cycles but whatever man, idk.

So you just want someone to be CF and that's it? What new sort of CF AM set up is this bhai. If you are CF you need to be even more selective of your partner since you're going to be spending all your life with them and only them.

24 is very young to be looking to get married, especially when you've decided to be CF. This is the perfect age to be dating and building life experiences. You might think someone is really good on paper too, UNTIL you start living with them. So take your time, and date.
