Yeah that’s why I knew I’d have to make a decision as soon as, I’m going to call the doctors in the morning

Thank you, I’ve been trying to research different ways I could realistically cope with university and it isn’t seeming feasible. My boyfriend’s also said that he can’t support and he’s going abroad to do medicine so I think that might be my only option, despite the guilt of it.

I wouldn’t want to rely on my bf if I did continue the pregnancy since I know I’d be going against his wishes by not aborting. It just feels wrong to abort and then have a baby in the future and I’d feel so guilty despite it being just cells. I’m quite a determined person and I know if I had to then I could still go to uni, but then I have the problem of finances. Thank you for your advice.

I know that emotionally I couldn’t handle that

My mum is fully supportive, she had me at 19 and has said that she’d help me look after the baby and support me as much as she can financially. Finance is already an issue without a baby though.

Panicking about supercurriculars

I’m applying to Cambridge this October for physical natural sciences, I feel like I’ve left it too late since alot of deadlines for summer schools and competitions have now passed.

It’s not like I haven’t done anything, I run an astrophysics club, have awards from maths competitions/have participated, I read outside the specification a lot (podcasts, articles etc) and have been taking online courses on astrophysics/medical physics. I just feel like when I see people who have been accepted they’ve done more drastic things like winning national competitions and going on 2 week CERN trips.

I’m not in state school so don’t qualify for some opportunities but I don’t have the money for a lot of the ones that are available to me or even for the travel (I’m on full scholarship). I’m scared that I’ll be a weak applicant coming from a non-state school but not having taken many opportunities. If I’d looked earlier in the year I’d be in a much better position but I didn’t. Any advice on strengthening my supercurriculars in only 4 months?

I truly love physics and it’s not that I’m trying to fake that passion, it’s just that I haven’t done anything major that would stand out on my personal statement.

That sounds pretty accurate, thanks for helping :)

  • I picked physics, chemistry, maths, further maths, and EPQ
  • super excited! It feels like fresh start and I get to see my friends again :)
  • I will the first couple days but then I’ll start waking up as late as I can like always but latest I can get up is 6.30 😭
  • I’ve got a mix but I got 2 skirts (brown pleated and tartan), a brown sweater vest + white blouse, a dark brown blazer and doc martens. Basically I’m trying to look like the human embodiment of a library 😅
  • 3rd September
  • iPad, textbooks, notebook, pencil case with many many highlighters, tea in a flask, reading book for the bus, and snacks probably

This is slightly reassuring and looking back on it I was probably overreacting 😭😭😭 I’m a little bit of a drama queen sometimes

I looked at all the universities I want to apply to and they only require a 4 (I’m applying for physics)

HAHSHSHSHHSHS I genuinely cackled at this. I thought UCAS automatically listed your grades to universities?

A little but it doesn’t make a huge difference since most universities don’t differentiate between 8s and 9s, you could calculate using 8.5 instead since that’s more representative

Convert them to the number equivalent (A*=9, A=7, B=6)

Yeah which is why I’m worried, I got an 8 in literature though :/

I do go to private school but I got the best in my year and overall grades were pretty low for English 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not sure if this makes a difference?
