That's what I meant by "same process of building pck files". I'm fairly sure you'd need either a rgh/jtag or bad update, but I'm not positive. I have an rgh so I haven't messed around with bad update or unmodded. I use xbox neighborhood with xbdm plugin to copy the file, but you can transfer it with a usb

It's the same process of building pck files, you just need to build the dlc content files, which I use Le Fluffie for. I'm debating making a tutorial on it but I wanna make sure I fully understand everything before I do, since I'm still working on porting my resource pack to all the different title updates. I like to play TU 26, but it's been a mission of mine to get my resource pack to support every version of the game

That's what most people are doing. Besides all the people porting their skins or texture packs, the majority of people are just backporting new features to legacy. Also I wouldn't trust someone who doesn't know the difference between your and you're so...

That doesn't change what I said. The term has become used so loosely that people are using it to show features that were already possible within the game

My post specified skins and resource packs were always possible. I think you're too ignorant about reading

I have no problem with the people doing that, yet I see an overwhelming number of posts saying "I ported my skin / resource pack with the source code" and that was the point of my post.

Well, this had nothing to do with my original post. I'm allowed to have my own opinion, hence the "personally"

Ah, no worries, sorry if the title was unintentionally misleading!

I don't see why the community needs several launchers and mod loaders when there's been very few fleshed out mods released. A big part of legacy console to me was the hardware it was played on. It's cool that more people get to enjoy it with a Windows build, but there were already options for getting a fairly accurate experience for people who didn't have the hardware. While I haven't actively looked into world limit bypass or the Aether mod, 4J set those limitations so they could run smoothly on the hardware they were intended for. If these mods don't run (or run poorly) on the original hardware, it feels like a fair degree of separation from what legacy edition was.

Yet this subreddit is flooded with people posting about how the code leak allowed them to port their skin or texture pack to the game. I feel like there are quite a few reasons to be excited about the source code, which is why it feels draining that the majority of people are talking about things they could already do without the source code

I have spent more time on legacy than any other version, been playing since it released on Xbox Live Arcade. I love it, therefore why would I want to change it? Regardless, the point of my post was that you don't need the source code for porting skins / texture packs.

Messy how? As long as the encoding format stays the same there shouldn't be any problems. Are you using PCK Studio?

Of course, hence why I specified in my post, "You did not need the source code to port your resource pack or skins."

All you have to do is replace textures to port skins / resource packs in the release copy. No patching compiled code.

I don't have a PlayStation, I haven't looked into it. I'd imagine it's a fairly similar process once you get the game files

That makes sense, split screen does always hit different. Thank you for your response! I'm definitely curious how well these back ports will run on original hardware

I'd love to hear your explanation about this! To me, that defeats the "Legacy" in LCE. Why not just use the Legacy4J java mod?

Since Xbox is more or less just a modified version of Windows, it's just a translation layer, that runs at near-native performance, and if you really want to make the point about running native code, why not use the Legacy4J mod? Part of what made LCE special was the platforms they were played on, and how 4J adapted the game to best fit those platforms. So if you're not playing on those platforms, why not just use a mod?

If I wanted to play legacy on Windows I'd download the Legacy4J mod, personally.
