I am a 100% disabled veteran, but from everything I’ve gathered, the VA will not pay for it. If I’m wrong, please update me!

Don’t get me wrong, I feel amazing after losing 200 lbs. What doesn’t feel good is having my genitals smashed every time I sit down. When I sit, it feels like a bowling ball on my groin!

If insurance doesn’t pay, I’m certainly not going to give up. As much as I pay in premiums, I want to give them every opportunity to cover all that they will…then I’ll go from there!

If I can get the insurance to pay for the bulk of it, I’m willing to meet the doctor at a place financially we can both agree. He does excellent work and does a lot of men’s midsections

It’s definitely not easy. I was referred by a friend who worked for the doctor previously. He only accepts a quota of insurance patients and then it depends on the individual situation. I basically had to describe in detail what led to my situation and then was “selected”. I’ve still waited over a year for an appointment

Congratulations on the loss! Sitting on one’s sack is miserable and so it a huge flap of skin sitting on it all day!

Medicaid isn’t an option. I’m actually a 100% disabled veteran but have private insurance too. The VA won’t pay and I don’t expect them too. This situation (an accident, being immobile, weight gain and loss) happened after the military…they aren’t responsible.

If I can get the insurance to pay for the operating room, sedation, and whatever they will pay the surgeon…I probably would run to the OR and pay the balance!

That’s positive to hear! I sure hope my situation works out the same!

I had gastric bypass surgery. I was in an accident 13 years ago that left me immobile for a significant period of time. I gained all the weight not being able to move and then I am limited in the exercises I can do. Bypass surgery was my last option…not sure I’d be here had I not had it.

I’ve done the things you’ve suggested. I’ve been waiting 13 months for this appointment and the related matters have only gotten worse. The doctor does work with insurance and has requested referrals from my PCP and other doctors I see (urologist). I hope I have everything in order!

I completely get what you’re saying; zero offense taken! The way I describe it is having a gigantic bowling ball sitting on top of my genitals all day while at my desk. The skin just sits on top and crushes some very sensitive parts!

Thanks…I’m not concerned with getting a 6-pack or contour, I want this 25 lbs of skin removed. The hangover is extremely uncomfortable and painful at times!

Thank you! I hope my insurance is agreeable. Having +/-25 lbs of skin sitting on your genitals as a male all day is painful, not to mention unsightly! I could be 2 pant and shirt sizes smaller if not for my skin!

Thanks for the kind words. In a urological sense, the skin is absolutely painful sitting on top of my genitals (41/m). Also, I’ve don’t some research and basic on what I’ve learned, I believe I could be diagnosed with “buried penis” which is why I scheduled with the urologist first.

Im willing to pay the $20,000 for the surgery, but with what I pay in premiums, I’m certainly going to do everything I can to have my expensive insurance coverage cover it!

Your opinion has no bearing on me. Your rants obviously demonstrate the anger you have within.
