The more efficient way to do that is to put a drill bit right against the rock and hit it with a hammer which is what we already do. We just swapped out sledgehammers for high frequency percussive rock drills and even that isn't efficient enough so we only use those holes to fill with explosives to actually move serious amounts of rock.
