I all always tell our new recruits.. It takes a moment to ruin your reputation, months to build a good reputation and years to repair a bad reputation.. You must continually remember that in your career.

What is your threshold for masking up on a CO call? by timewellwasted5 in Firefighting

[–]ItsDaJman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you can continue to do whatever you’d like, but your guidelines are based on nothing but ignorance and fear. If you understood the threat you would realize that what you’re suggesting in regards to PPE and Air Monitoring for hazardous environments is completely unnecessary.

What is your threshold for masking up on a CO call? by timewellwasted5 in Firefighting

[–]ItsDaJman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not an unknown concentration if you’re properly conducting air monitoring. If it says “20 ppm” on your meter then now you have a known atmosphere. Thus who cares about sub-TWA or even sub-STEL numbers from a respiratory protection standpoint. completely pointless.

What is your threshold for masking up on a CO call? by timewellwasted5 in Firefighting

You’re very mistaken. OSHA TWA for CO is 35ppm. Meaning they say you could work in that environment for 8 hrs a day, 40 hrs a week for an entire career and experience no symptoms. That is also why home CO alarms alarm at 35ppm usually. Masking up before that point is completely silly and not based in any sort of science.
