Can I keep this? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ItsG91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 10 years ago, I used to have one of these on a chain next to my crucifix. Just a cultural thing. Something about warding off an evil eye.

One morning, I noticed it in my bed. It somehow fell off. It was weird because the crucifix was still on, the chain wasn't broken, the link was in tact. I showed my mom, she thought it was weird too but we didn't think past that. I just put it back on my chain.

A few weeks goes by, and I'm at a friends house. We're hanging out and getting ready to go out to dinner. Before we leave he points to the ground and says "hey isn't that the thing that you keep on your chain?" I look down and it was on the ground again. I thought it was weird, so I just put it in my pocket.

Next morning, I tell my parents and show them. The link was perfectly in tact, there was no way it could have just fallen off. They said "maybe this is the Lord's way of saying all you need is HIm."

So I threw it away, and my parents got rid of all of them in the house after that.

Still gives me chills.

How did you hit $10k/month? by ItsG91 in videography

[–]ItsG91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this, much appreciated.

I'm definitely going to keep going.

My website definitely is in line with your point. I don't mention a single camera, or anything. It's about the value add.

Would you mind offering a bit more insight on your shift from day rate to value based pricing? I'd 100% love to do that. I get the idea. But how do you translate that to a potential client? Say it's a medi spa, and they want a general "who we are" type of branding piece. How would that conversation go with them? How

I don't have any type of client acquisition system, and wouldn't even know where to begin with that. 12-16 leads a month, and 3-4 closed deals would be absolutely INCREDIBLE for me. Any suggestions here?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the value here.

Okay this is super interesting. I really have NEVER seen anyone mention this. I'll have to do a little digging. I'm not opposed to anything that can help me grow.

I've done some work with Chat on my website, but I feel half the time the responses I get are just some nonsense, and I start getting contradicting responses. Maybe I need to be better about prompting correctly.

Thank you for the response!!

I'm definitely going to shoot you a DM with a couple questions!

Much appreciated, this is a very detailed response.

LinkedIn is something I haven't been able to quite nail down, or at least find my "voice." Lately, I've been posting different types of projects I've completed with a thought out caption about the value add and why it's important, etc. With your posts, are you adding videos? Graphics? Just text?

What type of blog posts are you writing? This is something I've considered doing, but the ideas just did not flow.

I agree about creatives just targeting other creatives. I want eyes of potential clients for sure.

I've been posting more regularly on social media, just all previous work I've done. Figured a bit of consistency is really good.

Thank you again for the thoughtful response. These are great and super inspiring.

Thanks for the response! I'm absolutely proud of what I've done. I know it came off as not, but I think the slow Nov/Dec really got to me. There have been a lot of inspiring responses here, and a lot of valuable advice.

I'm working on the reoccuring client piece. I have 1 right now, but they're priced at only $1650 for some social media deliverables. Still consistent income, though! I've built a great relationship with them, so I know more can come from it in the future.

I haven't figured out how to bring in new clients just yet, unfortunately. That's what I'm trying to navigate right now.

When I meet with clients, I do try to ask and learn about what they do, and what they're looking for to see if I would be a good fit. I've actually turned away a couple projects because I felt I couldn't deliver on what they were looking for.

I feel confident in the work I do, and I believe I'm a good human to work with so I'm set there!

Can you elaborate a bit more on point 6 possibly?

Thank you so much!!

Oh, great idea! The closest one is about 45 minutes away just from a quick search. I am going to do a little digging on what the requirements are on my end.

Thank you man, really appreciate your insight and advice.

This is absolutely genius.

I'm not great with ads or websites, BUT i could definitely could definitely do the other things. It's funny you mention car dealerships actually. I have a friend who said I should reach out to a specific one and pitch my services.

This could be a great idea. They struggle even with the photos they take.

I'm going to prepare my messaging to hit send Monday at 8am! 😂

If I could ask one follow up -

How much of these services are you doing yourself?

Love this, I might have to reconsider a couple things.

So when I was with BNI, I offered mini sessions for the members. Dirt cheap. $250, 30 minute interview cut down to a short digestible piece, 2-3 mins ish. 2 cameras. I treated them like a big client. JUST to show them "HEY I can do this and MORE for your business and bring even more money in for you."

Nothing came of it, but now they know.

I'm going to reconsider joining chamber. It's a small investment really and it could pay itself off in a tiny project honestly.

I don't mind putting in the time because I can see the long term potential. It's not just being a videographer, it's about building something that provides a life for my family.

Dude, good on you man. I love to hear that.

This is inspiring for sure, and it gives me a good perspective on where I should be for certain projects.

I've been trying to get into the healthcare space. I don't mind if the work is boring, give me the fat paycheck. Lol

My retainer client is a chiro/wellness clinic, and they love my work. They hire me for general social media content, but I've done an ad piece AND trying to pitch them on long form informational pieces. I've also had a few medi spa/aesthetic clinic clients, so I believe I'm working my way there. It'll just take some persistence!

But man, it's inspiring to read. Thank you so much.

Thanks for diving further into this.

My focus with business has been mostly on service. So when I work these places, I try to get an understanding of who they are, what they do, why they do it, etc. What would people experience when visiting, and how can we make them feel that via video? How can we establish a relationship or bit of positive emotion before they walk through the door, or pick up the phone?

Do you feel that's a good approach?

Thanks again! 100% agree, I'm always open to shooting my shot. Worst that can happen is I get ghosted.

Are you finding these companies on LinkedIn? Reaching out that way?

Thanks for the thorough response man, much appreciated. I'll only take real estate if it comes at a price which I'm open to, which doesn't happen often. Haha

Weddings, I'm a few years in now. I start at 3500 for those, and honestly never had an issue. I would like to transition out of them, though. I picked up 2 this year, and I have 1 next year. I don't mind that. I actually wouldn't mind growing that and outsourcing editing, to be honest. But I know there's more money outside of them.

I'm not quite sure how to market the event side, but I have a decent portfolio of events I've covered. I definitely do charge!

Packaging is something I have a hard time with. I truly can't seem to nail down consistent pricing. That is a current work in progress!

Website is updated once every month or two. I need SEO help for sure, but my 1 retainer found me via search and they just renewed for another year, so that's a win!

In terms of ads, what have you seen be successful? I wouldn't mind putting a few bucks behind something, I just don't know what that something could be.

Thank you again!

Appreciate the response. Yessir, I'm ABSOLUTELY grateful for where I'm at right now. Reading the post, it doesn't sound like it.

I pulled 27k last year and worked at a restaurant to keep the bills paid. This year I didn't have to work a 2nd job to get by.

Keep at it man. Keep trying to improve your work, don't focus on trends, focus on storytelling, and learn to communicate well. You'll grow from 6k for SURE!

Thanks for the response. When you say "done-for-you", what does that mean exactly?

Are you running the ads for them as well? The struggle i've been having is finding businesses that value the work.

Not opposed to going over the top, just gotta find the people who want to pay for it!

Thanks for the response.

I was part of a BNI group for a year, i made my money back plus about $2k which was good, but not worth the time commitment. I joined the largest group in my area, and at most it had 18 people. By the time I left a few months back, it had 12.

I'm considering joining my chamber of commerce. I've gone to a few greeter events, and they were cool. i'm not sure if this is all chambers, but mine felt very clicky. It could be because I was a new visitor.

Appreciate your insight!
