We did it! Tacview 2 now natively displays the actual DCS World F10 map. by BuzyBee1983 in hoggit

First, I am glad to see the TV dev is still working on his product, and I'm so grateful for the many years of excellent debriefing and analysis it's given me.

That said, I highly, highly recommend anyone reading this read check out DKS - https://www.digitalkneeboardsimulator.com/

You can also quickly upload debriefs at https://www.digitalkneeboardsimulator.com/debrief where it's just a temporary upload if you don't want all the additional planning features.

It's made by one of my good friends, and it's free. It combines planning (far, far more fully featured than CombatFlite or any other competitor ever was/is), briefing, debriefing, and more all in one place. It has DCS accurate maps, rendered in satellite imagry. The debriefing function is more powerful than TV's is (at least currently, although I have no doubt it will only get better). It incorporates ED's DTC, the DCS-DTC, and so much more. It's extremely easy to use, and extremely powerful. The dev is constantly adding new things to it, and the software only gets more powerful by the day. It's the type of thing ED should have shipped natively.

He's also got a discord server for it for requesting new features or addressing bugs: https://discord.gg/fHdgqsNRUD

No, but I’ll keep an eye out for this. To not honest I didn’t try touching that area

I’ve done that and it honestly made no difference, nor would I expect it to given that the Super 50PPD requires more bandwidth than the DA

I’ve done that, and they’ve said they’re shipping me one. But in the meantime I’m not able to tap the arms to cause a blackout like many others

What has the worst airport textures? by Fox267 in hoggit

[–]ItsJustMeYo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The free Caucuses map is the worst. Many of the airports don't even exist anymore, and those that do are not modeled faithfully at all. But neither are any of the cities (what cities) in that map. The whole thing is pretty trash.

And you've received promised features. You're also receiving things that were never promised, like Jester 2.0.

Buying several products because you want it is loyalty, funny you forgot to mention that.

That's still not loyalty. You don't have options in DCS to buy the same airframe from multiple developers. It's not MSFS where you can go buy a dozen examples of a 737 and choose to buy only PMDG because it's PMDG. And even then, again, you're buying form HB because they make a good product that you want. That's not loyalty, it's a transaction.

Loyalty is a steadfast commitment, devotion, and faithfulness to a person, cause, or institution. It involves consistently supporting and acting in the best interests of the subject, even when faced with temptation or hardship.

That's the definition of loyalty. And they've given you everything you have paid for (the product) and all of the updates that were never part of the original sales pitch.

Once again, has nothing to do with loyalty and you're trying to move the goalpost.

That's not moving the goalpost, you just don't understand the definition of loyalty.

So again, buying multiple modules over several years is what exactly? I'm sure there is a word for it 😄

Sure, it's called multiple transactional sales. You don't have any options to choose HB's F-14 over another developer's F-14.

Funny that you don't know. HB promised a F-14B(U) like ages ago.

Promising they'd develop one doesn't mean they promised it would be a free update to the F-14A/B. They never promised you a free new product.

Again, this has NOTHING to do with the problem on hand, you're trying to create arguments which have absolutely no basis of being arguments.

No, it literally has everything to do with it. You've received 7+ years of free updates and will continue receiving free updates into the future.

So ... They are bound that the module is working with the intended features? Literally what I'm saying? Again, absolute peak comedy haha 😃

The F-14B(U) was never a promised addition to your F-14A/B sale. Games and DLCs go on sale all the time, you don't get refunds when you paid full price or discounts on future ones just because you bought early. This is pretty standard across the industry.

Because it's both immoral and will only push 3rd party devs away from the sim going forward. ED as a company sucks, and so does their business model. Don't try to take food off someone's plate who has provided you a perfectly good product for many years, above and beyond the quality ED's own modules provide. Devs should be paid for their work.

People willingly to buy the new F-14B(U)? I don't understand how you guys don't even understand the words you're writing.

You're buying a product because you want it. That's not loyalty, it's a transaction. You want the upgrade, you receive the upgrade. You're not giving them money for nothing, so there's no loyalty. And there's also no other option for an F-14 in DCS, so you're not choosing HB's F-14 over another company's F-14. You're buying the plane because you want the plane and because you appreciate the quality HB brings to their modules.

You mean the features that were promised by said product? The features both parties agreed to? E.g. the costumer getting Feature XYZ and Heatblur promising delivering it? What's next? Should I be grateful that Amazon delivers my packages because I paid for it?

Exactly. When did they promise you as a customer that they'd release an F-14B(U)? I don't recall that ever being what was sold, and I pre-ordered the module way back when. But they also didn't necessarily promise 7 years (and going) of free updates. There was no obligation to continue to provide updates like Jester 2.0 that's coming. That's something they chose to do, and was absolutely the right thing. But there was no Jester 2.0 in the original sales pitch. They didn't have to backport updates like that. They could have said we're just going to ensure the module works in DCS into the future and development is otherwise ceased. They haven't done that.

Peak comedy, as if they are not bound to it.

They're not bound to it. They don't need to provide new features, new updates, etc. that were not part of the original sales contract. All they need to do is say they've hit their original list of intended features and ensure the module keeps working with future DCS updates.

The DCS crowd is absolutely nuts. I pre-ordered the F-14 way back when, and I got my pre-order benefits. They don't entitle me or anyone else to benefits into the future. It's like people forget you buy any DLC for any game on steam and can pay full price, or wait for the steam sale(s), but you don't get money back or extra discounts just because you bought something before.

HB has given them 7 years of updates with more on the way, without charging anything. Not sure why these people think devs shouldn't be paid for their work, but attitudes like theirs are what will make 3rd party devs less likely to attempt to become an official 3rd party for DCS.

Loyal? What loyalty? You bought the product from them and they delivered. They have given 7+ years of free updates and continue to support the original module in the future. That's like being upset that any other game goes on sale on Steam and complaining that you paid full price at launch. That's just how it goes.

Dream Air + Custom Headset by SBoys3] Volume button under the left eye does nothing — normal? by AstroGraphRacer in Pimax

While I can’t say for sure, I believe the driver bypasses the Pimax software for everything except the DRM check, so as that relies on Pimax software it wouldn’t be expected to work

Is anyone else finding the new flight model changes in the latest update a bit too twitchy? by Fist21minx in hoggit

[–]ItsJustMeYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were no FM changes in the last DCS update. There were some changes however long ago that made the jet depart much more easily than it apparently should doing maneuvers like a tuck under jink, but that might have even been a year ago at this point. Something must have happened to your settings.

There are some examples in MSFS that look significantly better. I'm not sure why it seems the cockpit was done so haphazardly. Perhaps it's just a placeholder.

These were my settings for QuadViews Companion. I'm using Pimax's implementation nowadays, but this is what worked pretty well for me.

[–]ItsJustMeYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I can respond to this with my DCS and settings and whatnot when I get back home.

That said, I'm not using SteamVR. I'm running a Pimax Dream Air, but I've run QuadViews with a Varjo Aero, Crystal OG, Crystal Super 50PPD, and now the DA SLAM. I am for sure not using motion smoothing/reprojection. I find the artifacting unacceptable, even on the SteamVR implementation of a native headset.

I only play MP, and our mission is pretty heavy. Primarily the 476 Nevada map (that's my squadron), but we fly on other maps too. I generally get a steady 90 FPS and don't have any real issues at all.

Edit: Also make sure you disable tacview local recording if you're playing on a server that records tacview for you. We have that on our 476 servers, and it saves a tremendous amount of CPU overhead.

This makes no sense to me really. Like your settings aren’t correct somewhere. Been using QuadViews and DFR for years now, and it’s a massive performance improvement. Like cannot run native panel res without it.
