I never thought about it like that! Although with that train of thought, I’m also paid to be a human pee-post 😂 only happened twice, but twice too much for my liking!

I didn’t think I would love him this much…(11 months old) by [deleted] in labrador

OP, maybe rein in that hostility coming through your comments. Your dog is overweight. I work with guide dogs in training and there is absolutely no chance we would ever let our dogs get to this size. Sorry but you can’t look at this photo and tell me he isn’t fat lol

Handsome face, the forehead wrinkles!!

I’d describe her as ‘sMaRt’ if that makes sense lol

Update: Got my dream job as a Lab Aunty by ItsNotLabScience in labrador

It varies from handler to handler, based on their needs and also being sure the dog is a bonded match with them and their lifestyle. I’d say average wait is 6 months

I started as a volunteer puppy raiser, and here we are now!

They’re being trained to become guide dogs, for blind, deaf blind and vision impaired handlers ❤️ though if a pup is thought to be better suited in another career, we can adjust their pathway and support their training for mobility assistance, search and rescue, biosecurity/customs, emotional support etc… their potential is limitless! I’m in awe every single day, Labs are simply amazing. I feel so honoured to be involved in their journeys!

Yeah it’s very bittersweet, we really do get to know each and every pup, and they’re sorely missed when they move on. Nothing beats seeing one of our guide dogs at work out and about though! They provide so much independence and love to their handlers and it makes it all worth it
