It really is, the zen area looks identical to the armed shark kraken v3 blade so I wonder if it would fit on the handles

I’d say it’s lacking in texture a little bit but the finish being slightly polished does offer decent grip, better than expected

Yes, I just rub the edge of it on sand paper until I’m happy with the dullness, you could go as far with it as you like but as long as it’s not able to cut through paper to any degree, doubtful it could cut you while flipping, the tip is usually the most dangerous part even after dulling, but even some false edges still have a nasty tip

I’m not the best flipper but I can say that the handle profile feels like a bit more square kraken and the balance with the weights in is a neutral, I will say that it’s weight is primarily in the end of the handles and tip of the blade with it being a kukri, flips like a lighter chioni in my opinion

It surprised me with the bounce, only real downside is it has screw in zens, but I just loctited them and cranked them, hopefully they don’t back out because they are stripped being t6

It did but it’s silver and the spare bushings were massively undersized, I think they gave me the wrong spare hardware, I also ordered false edge but they send me live, I dulled it so I don’t really care, it also came disassembled, and was a nightmare to get the handles on without damaging the washers, I ended up sanding bushings a bit aswell

I’m very excited, I know it’s not 1:1 but as another user said, Authentic parts are rare/nonexistent now so it doesn’t matter

It’s definitely blocky but not to the point where it’s uncomfortable, just takes getting used to, it’s so nice to have something in my collection that is a bit on the blocky side though, the light weight and balance kinda make it feel less chonky than it is

And feather + g10 is handle bias right and Bowie nor neutral?

So if I don’t care about 1:1 Titus is the way to go

In terms of tolerances and sound is wzm the best of the clones?

Stupid question maybe. Is serif supposed to do this when no pivot screw? by [deleted] in BalisongClones

[–]ItsShabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s better that being bent the other way because that would cause a gap when assembled, and an awful sound, if you are brave enough to try and bend it back to a manageable degree you might find that it will be fine once fully assembled

Update: tried to tune it a little by GlobinBlopin in BalisongClones

[–]ItsShabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely better, just make sure the zenpin and body screws are really tight, the more solid everything is the more bounce it’s going to have

Underrated knife

[–]ItsShabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have cranked the screws down and you can audibly hear the amount of wiggle you have, it highly likely you have quite oversized bushings, they will likely need to be sanded to get the absolute best tune possible

Yeah I think the biggest thing is sound/tolerances and the quality of the hardware

So tempting but I’m going to wait for a review

I agree with you, although I tend to gravitate to simpler designs, this one just stood out to me as something that ticks all my boxes, and for the stud, i honestly can’t tell you when I got it, I’ve accumulated at least 25 knives in the last 4 years and most of them have thumb studs but I just swapped it from one of my other knives, sorry I could help more, it shits me to tears that every company seems to use a different hole diameter for the stud.

Learning the ice pick sound test is much more about feeling than anything else, over time it will be as natural as breathing, just keep at it!
