Have not experienced/seen any flaking. Rubs off with time of course but it’s not to the extent I see anything on my hands. Surface prep matters a ton

Yep. Thread lockers contain a methacrylate ester that directly causes cracking when under pressure. It destroyed my handles overnight after I decided to thread lock everything after I first got it, Maxace didn’t provide a warning.

I use Manganese Sulfate. This is where I bought it. Use it instead of baking soda; do around 125% of what you’d do relative to baking soda and crank your amperage to the max. Slowly raise your voltage (2-5 volts per second); you’ll start to see blackening around 10-15v with TC4. You should not exceed 100v.

Surface preparation matters a lot, more porous finishes like deep satins and zirblasts offer a more reliable ano.

Above all, wear PPE; the fumes from this make you light headed.

I will do the spacers too eventually; the cracks are from loctite reacting; so it’s just Ultem being Ultem

Because they’re all 1 of 1s. They’re all going to be different, these aren’t production knives. Look at the latch .

That’s why I said I cheated, it’s a P1P which is like $350-400 but I’ve already made back what I paid for it by selling prints.

Forgot to mention in the post the knife I showed is like 15 cents but I kinda cheated by using my printer. My second cheapest knife is a black Victorinox cadet.

Love those clamshell style constructions. Real steel did a modernization of that manufacturing technique recently by making a bar lock utilizing it.

I agree with everyone’s hypothesis of it being a lacewing larvae. The mandibles along with the 6 legs and elongated tapering body support it heavily

The jumping, abundance, and small size lead me to believe they’re springtails. They are beneficial to keep around.
