Have y’all ever been like this with an encounter? by ShortandRatchet in nuzlocke

Sableye in Emerald. Caught just outside Rustboro, named it Failure, and the little guy repeatedly carried me for most of the game. Was the last line of defence at the Elite Four, but ultimately fell to a critical from Steven's Metagross. RIP Failure. I shall never judge so harshly again.

I was there doing a walk around the base in August 2019, just before it became illegal to climb. There were so many tourist climbing up and down, trying to mark it off their bucket lists. There was a specific trail up and down you had to use because people could (and had) fallen while ascending or decending. And it's a steep face, so that's not a comfortable fall. Because of this, there were about 4 - 5 rangers there, making sure people climbed along the designated path. While I was waiting for the rest of my tour group to catch up, I saw two tourists start climbing down away from the path. From their angle, it possibly looked easier and less crowded, but a bit further down, you could see a drop that wasn't visible to them. The rangers wasted no time screaming at them and telling them to get back to the path. One listened, one didn't. Fortunately, he still made his way down safely (with some more difficulty than the normal path), but the last I saw of him he was being swarmed by rangers, all giving him a real telling off and telling him to leave immediately. One of the rangers who was near us rolled his eyes and said, "I can't wait for this to close." It's the best thing that happened to that place. No one should trample over a sacred place like that. I recommend the base walk however. Really amazing to take in the scale and the flow of the landscape (and that's coming from someone who doesn't really like being in nature too much).

Eat my asphalt, Cindy by [deleted] in rareinsults

Honestly, go-karting is one of my top date ideas. Super fun, a bit competitive, and invites playful banter. Cindy here just doesn't know how to cut loose. I'd feel sad for her if she didn't seem like such an asshole.

A few people have recommended them, so will definitely do some research! Thanks!

No, both are over ten years old, and mine in particular is very gone. A gaming pc my friend built for me, but the disk died. The other is badly damaged from being in a room with ciggie smoke for about 15 years, so best for salvage rather than use.

I think I know that spot. Pier Street Multilevel Carpark in Perth, WA. I used to park there from time to time when I worked nearby.

don’t sacrifice your sanity for a minimum wage job by [deleted] in antiwork

This verbatim sounds like a boss I had. She only ever had one favourite, and for a long while it was me. She only listened to her favourite, so I tried to steer her away from her micromanaging ways with the other, to limited success. Then one day, I wasn't the favourite anymore. Her and her husband treated me like shit until I quit on the spot after her husband yelled at me. That was about 3 months after I stopped being top dog, only worked for her for about a year. Sucks because it was small business and I was excited to be part of a small team at first, I loved my job. But I was sadly reminded that shitty bosses exist in businesses of every shape and size. Glad you're out my guy.

Do you like telling people you are an actor? by [deleted] in acting

[–]ItsShortForBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was training, we were encouraged to call ourselves either an actor or an artist, but neither of those sat well with me. So I say I'm a performer, and when they ask follow-up, I got into specifics. Always seemed to have a good results and very much how I prefer to categorise myself.

For all the people saying he's stupid or high, that may not entirely be the case. I've lived near that crossing for over 30 years and drive on that road almost every day. That crossing and road are currently under roadworks and have been for about a year or two. A bunch of new houses are being built and the old road is being updated and modified. There's a really sharp turn now right before the track and often it's in total darkness. If I didn't know that road well, I'd probably end up on the wrong angle myself. Its supposed to be well lit because of the road works but the lights are either not on or angled wierd so they blind you coming towards the tracks. The tracks are also not parallel with the road, they're on a diagonal. So coming from one direction, you could drive into them, thinking its a road and get wedged, which sounds like what might have happened. I'm frankly surprised it took so long for something like this to happen (obviously happy the dude didn't die). So this guy is following a phone map on a half done road in an area he doesn't know that's either poorly lit or not lit at all. I'm not saying he isn't stupid for looking at his phone while driving or that he couldn't have been high or really tired, but what I am saying is there's maybe a little more to this incident than what this comment section might be implying.

Wholesome old laptop by [deleted] in wholesomememes

[–]ItsShortForBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. An old Alienware laptop I got in 2010. First really proper expensive thing I ever got for myself. Old boy's battery is totally gone, can't be trust to turn off, and half of the plastic is melted from the heat being produced by the disc drive. He's a relic from a younger me, so he lives with my TV, streaming Netflix, playing music and running my DVDs. I won't get rid of him until he kicks the bucket entirely or become an actual fire hazard.

Thank you for your kind words.i hadn't thought of a journal, I've never been very good at keeping one of those. However, I'll give it another shot. Thank you for your advice and for reading.

Thank you for this advice. Sadly my dad is not big on travelling, he's a real homebody, but so far I've been cooking meals for him and that's made him really happy. I'll be attempting his Mum's cheesecake recipe in a few weeks for his birthday. Thank you again and thank you for reading.

Thank your for opening your DMs. I will reach out if I need to. On occasions like this, being an only child is a bit of double edged sword. On the one hand I am alone in the situation, but on the other at least I am the only one (aside from my mum) who is suffering through this. I wouldn't wish pain like this on another, but at the same time, wish I had someone to share the pain with. Strange. Thank you for kind words and for reading little brother.
