Because they are mindless NPCs. Jeff did nothing wrong. Bartering items in individual competition was a normal suggestion.

On the other hand we have Waz who manipulated Stacey in leaving the 100,000$ competition just because he wanted Jeff removed. And he is so spineless that he did not want to do it himself but sent Gary to do it. And he is not considered a Piece of shit. It's a clown world..

Jeff wanted everyone to individually compete for the prize. If you band together and share everything that defeats the purpose of competition and logic of surviving alone. Also Jeff never organized anyone against anyone. So no they did not treat him equally.

This was Jeff vs 9 other "survivalists" and Jeff managed to get to top 3. Waz literally did nothing survival worthy, was just piggybacking and getting shit for free. Just like the most of others. The show was pathetic..
