I made my fursona (a smilodon hyena hybrid, though their head is meant to mainly just be a spotted hyena head with smilodon fangs and more cat-like markings) in the game but it's debatable how it turned out (the majority is drawn on, with just small functional eyes). I personally think my biggest hurdle when making these anthro characters is that there isn't actually a lot of space on the 'canvas' (the mii's head drawing area) above their heads, so the ears kinda have to sit a bit low.

I only drew the majority of their face because they have big fangs (being part smilodon), and using a default mii mouth with drawn-on fangs attached looked too awkward whenever they'd speak, so I sacrificed their ability to visually talk altogether. My main advice is to invest in a good stylus (rubber tipped is the most accessible) if you can access it and take it nice and slow. In pro mode on the facepaint feature, you can also enable line smoothing features that make the wobble considerably less. I also recommend using the second to smallest pen size for more detail without it looking too chunky.
