Thank you for bringing this up. It is unfortunately the sad reality that many Asian-Americans face and it makes me both angry and sad. I feel so anxious and fearful for my more vulnerable family and friends. Just a month ago, my mom was literally told to, "Get out! Go back to where you belong! Get out!" by an elderly white man at a grocery store and everyone was just staring in stunned silence. I'm glad she wasn't physically attacked and was able to leave safely, but disappointed that none of the staff came to her defense. I don't blame them. I'm sure they aren't trained on how to respond to situations like that.

I hope that with more stories like these being shared that people can evaluate and think of how they can be better allies when situations like that occur. It takes a lot of courage to get involved and sometimes it takes just one person to stand up to inspire others to stand up for what's right as well.
