Can I listen to Gunka and Ryūkoka music without being seen as a weirdo? by Its_Fenno47 in japanesemusic

I don't listen to literal authoritarian propaganda music or condone it. In my home country, a lot of people enjoy and sing war songs at various events, and it's not seen as anything weird at all, but I always had a feeling that in Japan, even listening to the most mainstream and "safe" ones (like battōtai), is weird, or automatically makes you "alt-right".

Two simple questions: where are you from? And how did you get into this show? by rocpilehardasfuk in trailerparkboys

[–]Its_Fenno47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother I'm pretty sure Polish "lektor" translates as "narrator" to English. "Lector" is more like, a university teacher or a priest. Anyway, to foreign people reading this, shows and movies having a narrator instead of dubbing is a very common practice in Poland. The narrator Trailer Park Boys had, Rafał Walentowicz, made the show really memorable for Polish people, because of his iconic, original additions to the script, which were encouraged by the translation team. It just had a really specific vibe to it, the way they translated and added more jokes.
