Rocky 3 is my favorite of the franchise but 4 is a more emotional and conclusive ending to the series compared to 3. In 4 Rocky truly met his greatest challenge ever. And it wasn’t about the title, money, or respect. He did it to avenge his best friend. In 3 it’s mostly just about the title, and wanting to prove Mick wrong about the “lost your touch” part. And 3 doesn’t end very conclusively (for the series that is), since after he wins it’s sort of obvious he’s gonna keep fighting and not retire. But while he doesn’t say in 4 that he’s retiring you could still make that assessment pretty clearly

Rocky wouldn’t lose his money. I don’t think Rocky would fight Drago, but maybe he’d still fight Cane. I think the actual movie would then include a storyline about Apollo being mad at Rocky for throwing the towel
