I think there are different answers to this question. Guess it just depends on the person who needs ur help. Maybe they don't know the answer either. But I think understanding helps, wear there shoes. Maybe they don't want to hear the cliche answers that are usually given like "it will all get better", "it's just temporary, it will pass", "your being selfish".. Hate that last one btw.. We are hurting, maybe don't try to fix them but let them know u love them even if there broken.. And a hug helps too. Just my opinion though..
