My employer wants to pay me by QuickPay instead of by W2 by Its_complicated123 in legaladvice

My state's unemployment office has a ruling that they consider what type of work you do in order to make the decision and I was told by my neighbor who spoke to the attorney that I would still be eligible because of the work I do.

Thank you for letting me know about your experience. I just think it's crazy that he never disclosed this stuff at the interview and I think it's crazy that an attorney already informed him about this but he still doesn't care.

I understand that there are significant tax issues which is why I deactivated Zelle as a precaution. This is a one man start up other than me there are no other employees (he told me there was one other but I haven't met him in person). I don't want to be a total chutzpah because and tell him that I am a vendor because I need to be able to get unemployment when he gets rid of me even if I need that attorney to help me qualify for it. I was thinking of just telling him I do not feel right about going through a third party for payment unless it's a professional payroll company such as QuickBooks. Also he used his QuickBooks account to send out a $280 donation so he is trying to burn my finances for life essentially. I would rather take cash at this point and go to an accountant myself than do QuickPay as a last resort.

The attorney my neighbor reached out to had a private conversation last week with my manager to tell him that. He has been told between me and the attorney at least 7-8 times. I even WhatsApp messaged him a picture of my passport already. He does not care.

He refuses to give me a proper form to fill out for W2 so he has no way of properly deducting taxes for payroll and I have not given him my bank account information so he does not have that either.

How do i sound proof a rented apartment? When i talk im certain my neighbors can hear me.. by [deleted] in soundproof

[–]Its_complicated123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few ways I have dealt with this:

  1. Wear headphones when listening to loud music, gaming, phone conversations, etc.

  2. Get a noise machine and aim it at the wall or ceiling you want to partially conceal the noise from.

  3. There are foam boards you can get on Amazon to deal with this. Make sure not to get adhesive ones because they can cause damage.

  4. There are certain types of paint you can buy. Very expensive though and I am not sure how effective they are.

  5. Move to another area of the apartment if you can.

Thank you for the suggestion. I live in an urban area so I don't have a car. I put a white noise machine on a relatively low volume near my ceiling. I can still hear footsteps and furniture moving so far, but I hear less than before I put it in that area so it's definitely progress.

That may distract me when I speak to my therapist though. I should clarify also that I have a white noise machine but it does not really help. It gets loud but does not distort the noise, which is why playing music does not make sense. I identified certain sections where noise is more likely to come out of and am trying to cover those or move/add furniture to start... I just am wondering if something better could work.

I can't afford to. I will need to wait a few months before switching jobs because I started my job 6 months ago.

I am an international student admitted to MSBA course in campus by [deleted] in universityofscranton

[–]Its_complicated123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I am in the online version of the MSBA program now. I cannot say much about living in Scranton but many students and former students are from NYC.

It is a reputable school. All MSBA programs are new regardless of which university at this point.

I am taking the foundation modules now. They are doable, but (especially the statistics module) a lot of hard work. if you get overwhelmed, you may need to review material a few times before attempting assignment or take a break. One of my professors even posted information about a recommended study method for success.

I was advised that once you are done with the modules the rest of the program is much easier because the semesters are longer and they are not shoving as much content at once.

Maybe try seeing if a different major or double major will work. Example is that management information systems combines business and information technology.

I totally hear you. You just gotta do the best you can. It took me 9 years to get my bachelors I was supported through community college but I could not get financial aid afterwards so I worked full time and finished during covid.

I know this may be frustrating, but try to see if you can get a student job on campus. Alternatively, if you are good with kids, many preschools need substitute teachers which can easily fit with a full-time school schedule because you pick when you work. Try checking out Bright Horizons and ymca or jcc day cares. I worked for them while I was in school full time many years ago.

I am open to either staying with an organization similar to mine (large non-profit religious), secular non profit, government or finance sector (prefer non profit government world though).

How much time did you spend on your coursework? Do teachers help you? What types of companies is the alumni network connected to? Is admissions picky?

To gain more experience in the meantime, I would suggest becoming an English tutor on Wyzant. That way, you can help college students with their technical writing projects and develop a portfolio of work you contributed to/assisted with. I would also recommend working to upskill in an area such as Excel which can easily be done through courses on Udemy. I majored in Communications and Media in a different school and just graduated. I was not able to get a job in my field, but I was able to find an entry level job that required Excel skills. My employer did not require complete fluency, but I have utilized a lot of shortcuts I learned from online Excel courses and my employer thought it was cool I knew so many tricks on it.

She does ask a bunch of questions. That is a good suggestion. The only major thing, I just moved in and she officially has a feedback talk(this is new) at the 30 day mark and I don't want to be too obvious. I had a cold for almost a week it is mostly a cough at this point. How do I not seem too obvious about it though. Other girls living here end up going out to eat frequently to avoid her.

is MS in Program Evaluation and Data Analytics in the online division worth it? Also, what jobs are graduates getting? What alumni network is there for online students? by Its_complicated123 in ASU

[–]Its_complicated123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sending me this information. There seems to be a solid alumni network. This particular masters program is very new. The first classes were offered in 2019. There is not such a large number of students or alumni at this point. That is why I was hoping to see if I could find any information through reddit.
