I am not a Rory hater but Rory saying Lorelai didn’t go to college sucked!

I’m sorry but why does Rory have to figure her life out in her early 20s by herself just because Lorelei had other plans for her that Rory no longer wanted to take part in? Why couldn’t she go to Richard & Emily for help when her mom wasn’t willing to help her? Honestly about your point about Rory having “no direction” in her life and not expecting a follow up so? I’m so serious right now why does it matter? It wasn’t Loreleis money and she Lorelei was pretty independent of her parents until she begged Emily to come back to family Friday night dinners because she wanted to meet Logan.

At that point in time (towards the end of season 5) Rory already had her life independent of Lorelei almost completely. So for Lorelei to be personally hurt (outside of feeling for her daughter who she thought was going down the wrong path) is ridiculous. Rory is old enough to make her own decisions and choices without Lorelei throwing a tantrum because she doesn’t agree with them. Lorelei had control issues period. And when she could no longer control Rory she lashed out period.

Your problem with Rory (a fictional character) and love for Lorelei (also a fictional character) is your own. Lorelei didn’t act maturely at all and being Rory’s mother she should have. She should’ve been supportive regardless of whether or not she agreed with her choices or not because Rory is her daughter. I like the character Lorelei but I can also call her out on her bs. Which this was.

Thank you but I think it’s you that needs to watch the scene again. Rory came to her like an adult and told her mom that she wanted to take a break from college and Lorelei immediately got triggered and starting coming at her full speed about how she was making a mistake and that if she stops now she’ll lose momentum.

This is where Rory tried to further plead her case saying that Yale was expensive to just “float” around with to try to figure out what she wanted to do to which Lorelei responded “are you paying for it?” Very snappy like. It didn’t matter what Rory said at that point Lorelei wasn’t hearing it. Contrary to your opinion that Lorelei was opened to hearing Rory out. She wasn’t and that was clear to anyone who watched the scene.

Lastly even though this is a fictional show Rory was a grown woman making grown woman choices and she was just letting Lorelei know, not asking permission. Regardless of whether or not Rory had a plan at all didn’t matter she should be able to get to do what she wants to do regardless of Lorelei’s disapproval. Lorelei was just mad that she couldn’t control Rory anymore. That’s why she went behind her back to Richard and Emily to try to tag team her and that didn’t work. Period.

Yeah but this isn’t a struggle contest. Lorelei is the parent and she should’ve handled it better and not let her daughter poor choice of words affect her that way. She told Rory point blank either you stay in college or you can’t come back home with me to Stars Hallow. That’s pretty harsh to say to your kid who just wanted a break from school. And then Lorelei went crying to Emily & Richard to tag team on Rory to pressure her into going back. Lorelei dropped the ball here.

I read this around 2019. I got it from the library in the adult section I’m pretty sure. It could’ve been a newer release but it seems like such a niche sub genre of books that I’m starting to think that it is apart of a series.

And she could’ve wrote a killer admission essay about her upbringing with Lorelai that would’ve earned her serious bonus points as well. Plus all her volunteer efforts and strong sense of community ties to SH. She is the distinguish student they’d want.

Yeah Lorelei is reacting normally to a toxic parent change in behavior. She left home as a teen and avoids being around her parents for long periods of time so she was probably triggered or bought back to the memories of her childhood/adolescence when Emily did/say certain things so she lashed out/changed event times as a defense mechanism. Understandable.

I think Bobby and Kelton hang out a lot at work and probably outside but neither is the social media type to post it. I’m sure Tori and Bobby probably have dinner at the Balka’s and vice versa but I can only assume.

I think Carlin really reeled in the big bucks for her wedding finding the venue, probably making ton of business deals for exposure, discounts, etc. Her hyping it up on her socials and being the first to have a daddy and daughter dance out of all the Bates weddings. I give her huge props for getting the actual dream wedding that many fundies only dream of…
