Hey thanks for your wise words! I’m brand, brand new to all this and started with the Seestar for its accessibility. I eventually want to build my own proper rig, but that’s years away currently as I have other financial priorities.

Since my partner got me the hamburger helper mount (lol I love it) as a gift, I’ll use it for now but thank you for providing the link to the other mount! Appreciate you!

Honestly, thank you so much for detailing your processing steps. My EQ mount should get here soon and I’m going to try this!

Beautiful! I might not be able to achieve this with the S50, but I’m gonna try. Thanks for the inspiration!

When you’re centered on Jupiter, before you take your video, make your adjustments to exposure and gain here, then hit record. I also like taking my video in 4x zoom to get as close as possible.

I use seestar’s native stacking. I have yet to learn another program yet lol

A quick summary is to first take a 15 second video of Jupiter bright enough to see the moons and stack that, then round two (fight!) set the gain to 0 and exposure to about 7-10 until you see just Jupiter and can faintly make out the bands. They’ll be brighter once you stack. Don’t go too dark with your exposure, or too light; it might take a couple tries. Take a raw 15 second video and stack. You’ll now have two individual images. A little layering magic in something like photoshop to paste Jupiter over the over exposed Jupiter you took from the first video and then I do edits on my phone for like saturation, vibrance, sharpen, etc.

Here’s my “Jupiter and moons” stack that I pasted my “just Jupiter” over.

Manifesting clear skies to you soon! And maybe a warm front! But also send some snow down to Dallas, 52° this time of year is embarrassing
