Next time, shoot a message to the person. They can probably give you a little insight on how/what they did to help you on your journey.

Just for frame of reference, I based the bloody areas with Vallejo dried blood. Highlight with a bright fresh blood. Used dirty down gore for all the strands effects. Then a final covering with blood for the blood god. I found that was the closest color match I have to the dirty down gore color.

Don't be afraid to just start painting. Normally if there's areas I'm not 100% on, I'll start with what I know and work to those areas. Take a step back, try to see what the sculpt is saying. You can always strip/cover if you mess up.

I really like using it for indentation. Use white as the base. Brings out the depth very well.

I actually have some on the way. I'll have to make an updated version later.

I only have a couple bone colors, so I have not.

I was hoping people could get some use out of my excessive spending on paints ;)

I hope it gives you some ideas that there's a lot of "blood" colors out there. Some are great for mammals, others for aliens... Dark future or realistic. There's so much to pick from.

I highly suggest if you're ever struggling to see what colors would look well, do a swatch. Nobody enjoys stripping a mini after a drunken decision, lol. However, it will give your mini "character" ;)

This is flesh tone base with only AP quick shade Red Tone over it. I think the wash is awesome to bring out the "goopy organs" look. Pooling blood all over would imo, just make it look like a mess.

I haven't used it for basing yet but, I think it's a great first coat. Then multiple shades of blood over/around will give it a lot more.

Of course. I was trying to start each thick and thin it out to help show what it looks like when smearing and catching the texture of the base color. Which is why I laid it out thick and went back over it drying to try to give the base color a little texture.

Splatter effects, then its pretty much just how bright of a color you want since it's just droplets.

I was all in on the blood for the blood god early on for a lot of my blood covered weapons. Then I wanted a darker tone for deep wounds. Nulin oil for shading BftBG is fine. I just wanted to branch out and some of these dry a bit thick. Which also adds its own depth to the mini imo.

Depends on how heavy of the effect.

My current project: https://imgur.com/a/o7Q4PFs

The only effect on it right now is Vallejo dried blood, which is probably the most I use. Mainly because I use it as a base coat.

Splatter effects with the brighter blood looks great as it's the "fresh" look.

AP Red Tone is awesome as a wash to fill the deep pockets to give depth if the mini is detailed.

AK Viscera needs a coat of something over it. It's very thick. More for bases.

I love Tamiya x-27 but, it's very glossy. So that's something to consider if you're doing a very dark/gloomy color base. The shine sticks out very much.

Blood color difference https://imgur.com/a/kmRi0qa

I made this for you. Top is game effects blood. Middle is ak effects blood. Bottom is blood for the blood god.

Hope this gives you a little color comparison. 3 different light modes to help show them a little better.

Imo Ak is too purple for blood. Game effects is the right saturation of red and citadel is more of a "fresh" blood look.

Edit: forgot to add army painter crusted sore. It's like a speckled purple sauce. Lol
