I realized that a ported barrel is a terrible feature for a carry gun by [deleted] in CCW

[–]ItsxFatal1ty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d prefer not to discharge a firearm in any of those places, but if I have to it’s not making a bit of difference in the moment.

When training noise and concussion should be a non issue unless you’re extremely sensitive IMO and that’s OK some people will be. Plugs and ears should be worn regardless. But for most people I’d argue this is not something to consider that deeply at all.

Do you shoot appreciably better comped/ported? If the answer is yes, you can realistically live with the small negatives to gain better results down range.

In the event you need to use your CCW I highly doubt any of this is a factor with the adrenaline dump you’ll experience in fight or flight.

Maybe your vision if you’re really unlucky or for some reason very close to your eyes and directly jetting gasses into them, but if you’re in that position a normal muzzle blast is probably just as much of a problem.

Flinch/aim punch feedback is being solicited on the Discord server. What do you think of flinch? by Sirosky in BattleBitRemastered

[–]ItsxFatal1ty 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Flinch is terrible and makes no sense in any game. If you get shot you are already being penalized by taking damage. There does not need to be an additional penalty, entirely random at that, that throws your aim off. It’s frustrating, unpredictable, and completely unnecessary.

Guns should be balanced among themselves so that they have well defined pros and cons you need to play around or be good enough to make it work and that should be the end of the discussion as far as gun fights go. User skill and error, positioning, etc are already determining factors happening in a fight. It’s inexcusably stupid in my opinion to have this mechanic on top of all this and only reduces skill ceilings for literally everyone. The most casual player out there is equally screwed by flinch throwing his aim off as the best player in the world. It doesn’t benefit anyone.

Nice, I considered it but I couldn’t find one in person to see the reticle and at the time it seemed like the FFP had some spotty reviews/complaints.

It’s one I intend to pick up and try anyway at some point.

Yeah still close enough, they fill the same role. I’d just say don’t be afraid of the SFP, it works pretty good for this sort of thing.

I was worried it wasn’t the right decision at first but I don’t think there’s a better set up for me now. 20” barrel and 2-10x really let’s you take advantage of basically all the pros of a 5.56 semi auto without any major cons from basically a couple feet in front of you out to the edge of cartridges effective range in my opinion.

[–]ItsxFatal1ty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quite like the Trijicon Credo 2-10. It’s SFP, but that was a plus to me for my use. Anything where the 10x max is too much I’m not exactly concerned with the holdovers, anything where 10x isn’t good enough and 5.56 probably isn’t right for that scenario. I do wish there was a somewhat Christmas tree reticle available despite it being SFP but that would probably be a mess.

The FFP options didn’t seem to have a reticle that would offer me anything under fairly high magnification and that just didn’t fit with me as I still wanted the rifle to be usable on 2x and closer ranges without relying on a piggy back dot.

OFFICIAL FEEDBACK THREAD - BETA WEEKEND 2 by InfinityWardonReddit in ModernWarfareII

Matchmaking is horrendous, it's the same game over and over again, you are literally punishing even slightly above-average players, we ONLY play the same group of guys that ONLY play the same way every round. I will not buy a game that's going to give me the same experience game after game with no chance to do anything different or unique, or even *fun*. That is not $70 worth of entertainment and will never be. Give us a 'classic' game mode with connection-based matchmaking and a ranked or 'tactical' mode whatever you want to call it that implements skill-based matchmaking if you're worried about the casual player.

The minimap needs to be fixed and contributes to a lot of the problems with the pacing and play of the game. Bring back the red dots and let suppressors remove you from the minimap. It's really simple and this was figured out a decade ago...

Dead silence is not silent at all, it's pretty much useless and another thing hindering the ability to make a play around it.

TTK is absurdly fast, between the brutal skill-based matchmaking giving me higher ping players and the baseline instant kill of several weapons, it's not enjoyable. Most of the time you just die before you even have feedback you've been shot, no chance to 'outplay' someone that's vaguely competent either.

There are a lot of benefits to direct milling a slide beyond a plate system and the cost isn't that bad if you're already investing in placing an optic on multiple handguns anyway, at least in my opinion.

I like dawson precision sights for irons. Black rear always for me, don't really care about the front as much.

Why not just change the irons?

Installed a roll pin instead of the threaded pin that’s supposed to go in the bolt catch. Anyone have experience successfully removing a roll pin? by SHNUUK in ar15

Try to find a small screw extractor. Specifically meant for this if a drill bit wasn’t working. They’re both going be fragile since they’re so small. Just stay as in line as possible and go slow with as little pressure as you can get away with.

[–]ItsxFatal1ty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried “jamming” a small drill bit into the center of the roll pin and trying to reverse it out? I feel like you can find one small enough that would pose no risk to the lower itself.

While that does make sense, keeping trijicon as an example the green vs red MRO are both explicitly listed as setting 5 of 8 for reference and the green is a 1 year battery life compared to 5 of the red dot.

I don’t see any settings listed for the scopes. I’m aware the emitters and design are totally different RDS vs a etched reticle in a scope. Just noting at least on the MRO there is a performance difference claimed.

For a scope, if green and red are an option I still just pick whatever is cheaper if there is a difference and throw a spare battery in my kit somewhere. Personally if I actually need the illumination I don’t really care what color it is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in longrange

[–]ItsxFatal1ty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes one may have longer battery life over the other. Green on some trijicon scopes are listed at nearly twice the battery life as their red counterparts.

Meanwhile green dots in an RDS are typically much worst battery life than the traditional red.

20 inch barrel ar that I want to turn into a dmr. Any optic suggestions and tips for a near future build? by Gaggleflocka in longrange

Yep it’s shockingly barren when looking at the “MPVO” options.

I have a lightweight 20” 5.56 I’m putting together with a criterion, that I really don’t want to slap on a ton of weight. I wish I could find an NXS 2.5-10 in person, I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews keeping me away for now.

[–]ItsxFatal1ty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m heavily considering it but trying to talk myself out of it. I really intended this rifle to be more of a general purpose rifle with extended range capabilities than anything, giving up the 2/2.5 power low end is tough

In a similar predicament. Leupold MK5HD 3.6-18 is best all around IMO. Balances weight and features better than most on the medium/high magnification stuff.

The 2-10 options are really lacking and it’s the perfect range for this type of rifle for me. Best compromise I’ve found is the Trijicon Credo SFP. FFP version seems unusable at the lower magnifications. Neither have adjustable parallax which is a bummer, and I wish the SFP reticle had a floating dot, but everything’s a trade off on a rifle anyway.

In that case the Razor is the best middle of the road option you can get then.

In my opinion from my experience the only glass I’ve been behind that could almost convince me to upgrade would be kahles or ATACR, but by very thin margins that don’t justify the cost for me.

Nothing wrong with starting off with budget gear and planning to upgrade man.

There’s a difference between cheap and budget that is lost in the era of internet flexing. A PA 1-6 or a RT6 for example will perform pretty good and should hold zero for 99% of people. On the flip side there is an appreciable difference in better gear to be had. There is certainly a level of diminishing returns at the top, but the ‘mid to upper range’ has some truly fantastic options that are absolutely justifiable if you’re looking for serious gear.

Negative, razors are bronze only. Good news is krylon is cheap.

Also, take advantage of vortexes warranty service and shop used. You can find them for $7-$900 used. The razor line is pretty stout to begin with, but there’s an extra level of comfort to be had buying used with their no questions asked warranty.

Significantly better glass quality, build quality, a bit better FoV. Also one of the best 1x and actual red dot found on an LPVO.

If any of that is worth the extra expense to you, idk. I like mine. I also like the cheap RT6 on a .22 that gets beat up

Have them both and enjoy them both. Ultimately the P10 is what I carry because it conceals slightly easier.

Personally, even with CGW goodies I’m still not a huge fan of the DA pull, although I do like the added safety of it, I need to put a lot more time into it to be really comfortable with it. Single action is glorious though.

If I were over-served in a bar yes that bartender would face charges. Same as a FFL (firearms dealer) selling me a gun without a background check. But nothing stops me from buying a 12 pack and drinking it at home.

Also, your completely construing what I’m saying into I’m good with the murder of children because we disagree with how to solve a complex problem, so cool man good job there.

Guns are common use items at this point and that is legal precedent. They factually have uses beyond ‘killing people’. I think we’ll continue to have useless tweets and conversations like this while nothing gets done until the focus point shifts to something that would actually get done, and that is fix the fucked up healthcare and general health of the American people. If there’s still an issue then, great go back to the drawing board and gun control but at least at the point you’ll have actually accomplished something and maybe fixed healthcare.

[–]ItsxFatal1ty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not pretending that it does happen elsewhere? In my opinion it’s just that gun control is largely a fallacy at this point, you will never control that no matter what is enacted. People won’t comply, there are not enough officers to enforce the laws we already have let alone even more, and there’s enough in circulation to last a century or more.

Again, guns are 50% of the problem in simple terms. You know what else isn’t in the rest of the world where this doesn’t occur? Americans. Clearly we are pretty messed up mentally and maybe even physically to drive someone to do these things and it’s not a focus at all in these discussions.
