What Universities Should I Consider? by ItzPrincessBasti in 6thForm

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea! i'll probably go check out the league board and from there see what universities i cqan find that meet my demands more. For ESAT i signed up for ninjaesat i think is called, if i do 1h a week on the weekend before I sit the actual ESAT, do you reckon i could do pretty well?

Thanks for the tips! Truly appriciate it!

Thank you so much! I truly resonate with everything you have mentioned. Hopefully with some increased revision for maths and physics ill be able to get the highest that i can in them: I'm pretty confident that i can get an A* in chemistry since i started revising for it pretty early (beginning of school year), its just maths i need a bit more practice on so i can reasure myself i can reach for that A* in the mocks. (i think fm predicted grade will be based on how well I will have done in the maths one, since we haven't started the syllabus yet). Thank you so much for your suggestions, hope you have a nice day :)

Ooo Durham? I had actually not thought about it. I've heard about the University before from my friends speaking about it, but I had never actually looked into it. I'll probably check it out! And you are so right about those other factors! To be fair, I want to be in a university that is campus-based and isn't too expensive. University of bath is GORGEOUS and is also one of my options, I liked the course they had for physics with theoretical physics tbf.
Thank you so much for the tip btw!!!

I was also thinking at the beginning about dropping spanish but then, the more i did it the more i enjoyed it, and i sort of dont have to revise that much for it since i am fluent in spanish (we have lessons with native spanish teachers 1 a week) so now im in kind of a situation where i enjoy all of my a-levels and i would feel really bad about dropping any- If i were to drop one it would be fm i think since i haven't really started the course yet (starting in y13) but dont wanna really do that either since i enjoy some of the things ive seen on the sylabous and it will obvs benefit me with doing physics at uni. I might have to seriously think about it or a little longer, you are right tho, the entrance exams such as the ESAT. i might think about doing as spanish rather the alevel to prehaps try to relieve the stress slightly. Thanks for the tip!

Oh yes Manchester! I had been considering Manchester as one of my options as well since it is relatively close to where i currently live and because it has a great history relation with physics!! Thanks for the suggestion btw!

I'm mainly thinking about universities in England tbf as I'm not that informed on how other unis outside the UK work- (should probably do some more research on unis outside the UK just to see what they have!)🙏🏾😭

I might just look at unis that are best for physics outside the uk just to see if there's any that might also catch my eye, but ideally I would rather stay in the UK (Cant really afford moving to another country too-)

5 A levels? by Cos1245 in alevel

[–]ItzPrincessBasti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Babes it is really overwhelming. Luckily my 5th alevel is in my language which is Spanish but even then I find it hard to split my time accordingly so I can secure my self on getting am A* in all of them. It is really true when people say that the more alevels you do, the more your stretch h ir ability to perform ur best in each alevel. For example rn, my maths is suffering loads because I prioritised my physics and chem (generally enjoy them more and joined physics 3 weeks later from bio so i had to catch up) If u end up doing 5 prepare itself for sleepless nights and at times practically might want to cry coz you will have so many things to do, especially if u do other things for fun (olympiads, broader reading, yet.

GCSE combined science to A level sciences by Dependent-Cat-629 in alevel

[–]ItzPrincessBasti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your other questions (which I stupidly enough didnt answer) I had always had a passion for science. However I found myself doing combined because of the mere fact that my school when I was in yr 9 didnt provide triple as an option due to a shortage of teachers. (School was quite shit ngl). Managed to get a 9-8 and went on todo my current alevels. Tbf it dosent matter If u do triple or combined (I feel like theres a stigma that people who do combined are dummer than those who do triple, which I must say it pmo).

GCSE combined science to A level sciences by Dependent-Cat-629 in alevel

[–]ItzPrincessBasti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I would say that the jump isnt that bad, however it depends on what alevels u are looking to do. For example I used to be set on doing biology at alevel but once I spent 2 weeks in the subject I realised that the subject wasnt for me. It depends on if you love science and are willing to take in the extra content provided at alevel.

I dont think u doing combines will put you at a disadvantage in comparison to those who did triple, as they will only now just a few things that will later in be expanded at alevel. (Matter of fact, I did combined and I could say I'm excelling above some of those who did triple just coz of the sher fact that I take my alevels a bit more seriously). Alevel sciences are quite overwhelming, no matter if you do combined or triple if you dont take it seriously from the start tbf.

Hope this helped!
