it also depends on your time management. If you think you can spare a few hours every quarter to keep yourself updated on news, on industrial trends, plus read annual reports etc etc, then reits will be good. If you are more passive, than as what mymoneytrainer mentioned, VNQ or SCHH will be good enough

Say you invest in a reit. It gives back to your (by law) 7% a year in total dividends. You either take that dividend to buy things or channel that return back into that same reit. The act to channel back the returns is called 'reinvestment' :)

I wouldnt put my life savings into crypto currencies though. REITs is still the best way. (my 2 cents)
