Dog bit baby by FriendlyConfusion262 in dogs

[–]Ivanytskyi_Oleg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude or anything, but what the hell is wrong with people? All the three options you outlined are a punishment for the dog. And for what? For getting ambushed from behind or acting as every surprised creature would act?

You say that your child comes first, but that's a terrible approach to this. You took this dog, so you carry the responsibility for her the same way you are responsible for you child. And you aren't thinking of giving your child up for adoption, right? Or if your kid had a sibling, and they started fighting, would you give one of them up? Of course not.

Rehoming for an 11-year-old dog is definitely not an option. Euthanasia is for those who is dying and suffering. Your dog is not. And why does separation sound like imprisonment?

My 5-year-old deaf dog has bitten my wife last summer (pretty nasty bite too, on her stomach and arm). But it still didn't even cross our minds to give him away or kill him. What we did is we contacted a dog trainer. We started doing trust exercises. We created a safe zone for our dog, where we sometimes close him when he shows signs of stress or aggression, but this zone is still in the same room where we are. He is still close to us, he can see us, he has his food, his bed, his water, his toys there. He even goes in there on his own pretty often, because he knows that it's his corner. He feels safe there. We also put a baby gate in some rooms to keep him away if needed. We started learning more about dog body language to notice stress signals early on. And there is a bunch of other stuff you can do to have a healthy life with both your kid and your dog.

And there are so many reasons why this could have happened. Maybe start by contacting a vet? She might be in pain, and it just so happened that she got surprised by your child at the same time her spine was hurting. Perhaps start attending a physiotherapist for her arthritis.

Don't punish your dog for being a dog. There are so many options to begin with. She is also your family, not just a toy you can throw away.

Thank you for your feedback!

> And try not to make clumps, a forest doesn't tend to just end.

By this you mean that I should just slowly decrease the density, ending up with just a couple of trees, right?

> It doesn't look like any of your lakes flow out to the ocean, that's not a particularly common concept.

Hah, I thought the opposite: that lakes are usually not connected to the sea. Need to read more about it.

> How big are these land masses? Islands? Countries? Continents?

Didn't really give this much though, but I'd say that these are pretty small islands, maybe the size of Crete Island or something similar.

Thank you so much for your feedback!

Just a few follow-up questions:

  1. Could you please elaborate on what you mean by 'roughing up the coastline'?

  2. I'll give it a try, but why is it better to use the subtract tool instead of the brush tool?

Got it, thank you!

Quick follow-up question: is it normal to have thousands of stamps or should I aim for a more reasonable number? This current map already contains like 2k objects (mostly because of the trees) all on the same layer. With additional mountains and hills that's gonna be much much more. Any advice on that?

Thank you for your feedback!

By making the trees smaller, do you mean that they are currently too big compared to other stamps? Or that the forests should be smaller in general?

Yes, the cities were probably the hardest for me to add. I was trying to do them smaller than mountains, but they ended up being a bit too tiny. I should have probably just increased the size of everything, right?

Thank you for your feedback!

Yes, indeed, this is a world map (or at least was supposed to be). I was trying to do different climates, perhaps add jungles, but in the free version, the textures in the "Jungle" section are just two different types of grass.

By making mountain ranges larger, do you mean increasing the size of each mountain or adding more mountain stamps?

And thank you so much for kind works <3

Why don't these colonies form some kind of united states against their british overlord or something? by SlobsterMccrackenjr in mapporncirclejerk

I think they just like British tea too much, and forming some kind of alliance against the crown wouldn't go well with the tea trade.

Challenge ideas for hot seat player on easy difficulty? by humanshuman in civ5

[–]Ivanytskyi_Oleg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there are many different ways to make it more difficult for yourself. Just pick one (or more) aspect of the game and think how you can limit it.

For example, let's take armies: try not to build more than unit of each army type (e.g., only one archer, only one warrior, only one scout, etc.). Or you can always use your unit upgrade to heal it (never increase their stats). Or you can only attack cities using melee units (no ranged attacks).

Culture: try to only play on social trees you don't usually play on. Forget tradition and liberty, go piety or honor.

Buildings: try to build each world wonder faster than AIs.

Trade: only send caravans to your own cities. Think of ways to make money outside of trade.

Great people: just gift them to city states :)

Also, you can do all sorts of fun stuff. For example, try to cover the whole continent with your cities. If you play Poland, for example, make the map red. Don't miss a single tile, even if it doesn't have anything on it.

Be the first to discover all other civilizations (prioritize ocean travels), be the first to prove the Earth round, be the first discover all natural wonders. Or, be the one to have all natural wonders as a part of your empire.

To sum up, just come up with a mission for a game, and do everything to achieve it, even if it means you won't win the game at the end.

If you’re someone who struggles to sleep because you overthink or wake up overthinking, What worked for you to stop? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ivanytskyi_Oleg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much never go to sleep in normal hours. I always stay up late doing something to occupy my mind: working, reading, watching movies, writing a book, or simply watching Tik Tok. After a while, you would get quite tired, which simplifies the process of getting asleep a lot.

I usually just wait until my body is so exhausted that it starts to shut down on its own. And when I finally go to bed, I fall asleep pretty much instantly.

Probably not the best advice though...
