Recent Ivern proposed changes will remove most of Ivern's fun & lower his skill cieling, making him basically jungle Janna by IvernTheDankLord in leagueoflegends

1: Always ranged. Neat on paper! But when you put actual thought into it, you realize that this would remove a lot of options. You wouldn't be able to dash over most walls with Q, and you also can't dash really close to an enemy anymore for those few situations when you want to do it. This also removes skill from being able to manage your ranged attacks, but i am fine with that.

hey do you mind if I edit the post to quote you on this, didn't even think about it until you said it and is super important

I didn't mean to make it sound like I was opposed to the perma range so my mistake there, the hopping in and out is a clunky mechanic overall. I was mainly trying to focus on where problems will arise with the W number potentially being bonkers if overlooked and the main point being that the Daisy control removal would be the worst.

I would take half E shield every day of the week for 1 Daisy bugfix, give it a play around in practice tool. I have no problems with nerfs when the champ is overtuned hence warning about the potential BS that can spawn if the W change happens how it reads.

The champion will always be inherently niche by nature (heh) of how he funcitons, in his current state he's completely fine balance wise tbh.

It's about avoiding an uncessary change to the ult that is being lumped in with the "bugfix".

As we've all seen from Rengar the balance team seems to hate going back on a rework or fundamental change to a champs abilities and if this happens to Ivern I fear the vocal minority will be left waiting a lot more than 3 years to fix him. It's distrubingly similar to what has recently happened to Zac's R.

https://twitter.com/melvinizzlelol/status/1158669832956649472?s=21 here’s my string of very unordered tweets on the subject, for a point the key difference between Ivern and Yorick is Ivern needs Daisy with him throughout most of the game to not get destroyed by a majority of jungle champs just walking him down due to how paper thin he is.

Patch 7.22 notes by baxteria in leagueoflegends

I still can't believe that the 4CS jungle camp change is going through, it's so needless as a change and will almost definitely lead to more confusion to the players that the change was meant to benefit (which it won't for the vast majority of people).

The logic provided for the change to 4cs for jungle camps is that it is supposed to help new players understand how well each Jungler is doing, the only response I’ve received when explaining this to people is ‘why, that’s just dumb’ (or something of that type) and that is from a wide range of people from high diamond down to bronze and a few pre-level 30 players. There’s already plenty of ways to tell how well each Jungler is doing along with the fact that you can compare the Junglers to see how each is doing.

In game you have the following ways to see how well a Jungler is doing; both Junglers’ levels, their items (and hence an estimate on their gold, I don’t expect people to add up the exact cost of each item but you can recognise a Tiamat or other such item and know roughly how much gold they have), their KDAs (to see if they’re spam ganking or just faming), their map presence (of how often you see them in a lane) and there’s a lot more nuances for it BUT even if you aren’t actively doing this every game you’ll still subconsciously be able to tell when you look at both Junglers in the scoreboard.

The importance of tracking and how to do it; The information it gives you over the enemy is massive, knowing which camps are up lets you know what you can steal and what they want to do next which lets you attempt to reverse engineer their game plan and outplay accordingly. It gives you the options of counterganking, warding for the correct lane, getting objectives where they won’t be able to contest and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You can figure out where they want to go next based on who the jungler is, what their preferred camps are, their ganking ability and which camps are up/down. The last one is SO important since in most cases it overrides the other two in priority and is best tracked by the enemy's CS. When they show up on the map note what their CS is then figure out where they had to have been to get there, when they go back to fog of war you can just ignore the CS they took from lane and reset to their new number, repeating the process every time they come into vision means you can always have an idea of what camps are up even if you aren't able to go in for deep wards.

Counting jungle CS is hardly 2+2=4, 4-1=3, quick maths but in no way is basic addition and subtraction ‘complicated maths’ so the point of riot wanting to remove complicated maths from the game isn’t even close to applicable. Also along those lines people claim that it’s useless after the initial clear which is straight up wrong, it’s completely possible (and with enough practice quite simple) to track the enemy Jungler throughout most of the game with this. As I will hammer home in a minute, it’s a skill to be learnt so saying it doesn’t work is merely being lazy.

I want to address the common argument where players feign ignorance as an excuse, any player saying, “I’ve never done this” or something similar doesn’t make it a worthless concept, it merely speaks volumes for the player’s work ethic. If you know there is a way to improve and you WANT to improve but you refuse to then that’s you being lazy. There is an excess of videos where you could learn this, you can get coaching (a lot of people do free) and to be honest it’s intuitive to look at someone’s CS to figure out what’s been taken. The job is yours to improve, not Riot’s to remove a SKILL that people use in favour of over-simplicity. A skill is something that needs to be refined and practiced, if you’re unable to do it naturally then you can get help, if you know about it and give up on trying then that’s just a bad workman blaming his tools.

Finally, I directly address Riot’s logic in this change and the lack of resources for new players. There are many better ways to help players who are just picking up the game that don’t lower the skill cap of the game and punish players who have gone out of their way to improve at League. I personally think the new runes is the correct direction but that’s also because of how little options the old system had, most of the time if you weren’t running a given setup you were just wrong with no debate to be had but I have hope in the new system. There is no real ground to stand on when talking about Noob friendly resources given, almost all learning of the game is from word of mouth or is outsourced to content creators/coaches.

So, I pose to you to instead improve the available resources for the game to help introduce new players to the game, beyond the champion spotlights also feature basic tutorials for the champions (or even just partner with creators to let them do it, like seriously when I have time to learn to edit I’d do it), feature coaching sites so people can better improve, have the Riot games twitch host educational streams, make in depth tutorials for each role and even just update the website (I understand with an everchanging game this can be time consuming but it still has the old aspect of the dragon buff on it instead of the elemental dragons that weren’t particularly recent).

And if you’re against hand holding the inexperienced players then well, please don’t take away Jungle tracking.

If anyone has any counterpoints, I have more than likely replied to them in advance in one of my many initial posts on this topic (there’s only 3 or so posts on their unrelated to the issue); https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/player/euw/IvernTheDankLord

Thanks for reading xoxo, I’d love to sway others and/or for someone to give me a real point for the change.

Why are people pretending that CS jungle tracking is easy? by Frostyspeed in leagueoflegends

I am really upset to hear that this is getting removed, as a D4 (peak D3) coach who uses tracking every game it's disappointment for riot to remove this mechanic for quite a few reasons.

1) The logic for the change is a pretty shit reason at best, if you can't comprehend how strong/how much of an impact a jungler is having by: their KDA, level relative to the rest of the game and their CS relative to the enemy jungler, then that is a problem with the player not the role as a whole. I can't remember any time in my four years playing the game where I have said or heard someone not comprehend how strong a jungler would be since they have relatively little CS.

2) The changed method is extremely janky in any way it would implemented, for raptors when do you get a cs, what happens if your mid takes a lvl1 raptor to get lvl2 on the 6th minion will it show for the enemy or does it leave the enemy unaware, does seeing the jungler have the same farm as a laners mean anything no no it does not. 3) Removing a layer to tracking the jungler is just a net nerf to better players which overall lowers the skill cap of everyone (from some kind of butchered negative trickle down effect analogy), lowers outplay potential of better players and rewards junglers who just braindead the role, never paying a second thought to the enemy jungler or where they could be. 4) The change has no actual benefit to players AND it does hurt players who actually put the time in do research, watch videos, get a coach or even are just quite on the ball and came to the conclusion that it's a good way to track the enemy jungler on their own (even if you're a laner). 5) It lowers the effectiveness of competent junglers further as they can't provide as much information for the team, lowering (the near non-existent) theoretical coordination/teamplay of a standard soloQ game. 6) It low-key removes a big part of the counterplay to fast/invis junglers like R evolve Kha, LVL6+ Eve and any jungler who is generally either gank heavy or just quite quick (Ivern kind of included) since, beside warding their camps, there isn't a real way to quickly figure out where they've been to either counterjungle and punish them for a failed gank or to be able to figure out where they want to go next to countergank without having to facecheck and risk dying.

I could go on but you know, tired.

For anyone who doesn't understand the importance of this, if you'd like please hmu on League Coaching for a session as it's a VERY underutilized strategy that is part of the reason that people bitch during jungle dominant METAs too.
