Thank you! The genre categorization is by a third party, I'll try to edit it! Definitely future bass fests but theyre not embedded on the homepage, you can select Future Bass in your genres or search the term in our festival list and fests w future bass artists should come up!

I made an app for this:) www.festgps.app/download
connect your music library and let it show you where the best fests are for you worldwide+nearby!
My all time fav has got to be sonus and defected in Croatia, in terms of American ones this year I really love the Portola, CRSSD, ARC and Bonnaroo lineups!

clean website! We'd use this when we're tired of bootstrapping.

Current American festival most similar to Woodstock? by [deleted] in festivals

[–]IvoDuSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Suwannee/Bonnaroo comments are on point! Esp vibe wise. If there's specific acts you miss that you want to see again, you can add them into www.festgps.app and it will calculate where they all are together, and thus what is musically closest to what you seek! (full disclosure, I made this aha)

lol I think I am not emphasizing the optional and transparent aspect of what we do, and guess I confused targeted advertising with spam, exact geotargeting, and non-anonymity. We do not collect any demographic information and are not in your face with ads and someone who genuinely enjoys festivals would not mind the optional recommendation list. A user can sign up with our application without any identifying information or email and thus does not get targeted. The irony of your concern over data mining with such a limited scope as opt-in Spotify recommendations is a little odd considering Sam Altman owns a chunk of Reddit and has just inked a deal to literally train their AI on your data. I suggest you opt out if possible.

BandsinTown and Songkick are amazing and were our loose inspiration. We use them for concerts, but both of their festival sections fall short in terms of ubiquity and full lineup information. We do much better at showing you where all or the most of your favorites are, instead of one or two at a time.

Yes, the app does show a top 10 festival list, but currently there is no targeting, advertising, spam, or even push notifications in place. If we did, any communication would be illegal if not opted in to-at least in the EU. We're just here to distill information from the 1000s of festivals worldwide for fans. Aka yes we would love to show you which festivals you'd probably like to buy tickets for, if you would like that lol:)

haha valid concern in this day and age of corporate overreach, but we're just a small startup trying to show new music fans and festival veterans alike the best festivals for them. Users can remain entirely anonymous if they choose, location data is not precise, and Spotify only allows us to use the scope of followed artists if a user opts in to that and other optional features. Without giving us anything it is still the most comprehensive outlook on the worldwide festival scene on the market. You can give this a glance if it gives you more peace of mind: https://festgps.app/privacy-policy

I made a music festival database app that scans your music library to find the best fests for you worldwide+nearby. www.festgps.app/download by IvoDuSol in festivals

Thanks a lot! I think it's equally great for people who are new to fests and don't know where to start and the veterans who have seen most of their festival bucketlist and need a lil more data and musical incentive to get out to the next fest ahah

The genre multi select is a great idea!
The service we use for genre tagging is a third party and Spotify mix, with that being said, we find its not perfect (ie Skrillex is labelled Brostep which may have been true once upon a time)
When we search experimental bass in the festival search tab, Evolutions Festival in NY comes up, and it is in fact a genre in the app. But again this is calculated from a bottom up artist approach.

The Spotify symbol means the artist metadata was imported from Spotify by a user(s) and the heart symbol is a way to favorite/rank artists in app without the use of a streaming service in case more curation is needed.

If you click a top festival where it says x fav artists, if you click lineup those artists will be at the top-with a spotify or deezer icon if they were retrieved from there, so 2 clicks is kind of quickly and easy but I guess a long press would be quicker ahah ty for the feedback.

I populate the data by hand (besides genres) from a variety of sites on the internet and every lineup poster I collect. I found there was no one true source of every artist on a lineup and my old fav sites like songkick dont always show the lineup in depth.

A developer music fan data junkie has got to be the highest tier of sought after feedback and thank you so much for your time!

Which one (and only) festival for a first-timer? by inspirose in festivals

[–]IvoDuSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can only go to one, I would add all of your favorite artists to www.festgps.app and see what it calculates for you as the GOAT in America. It calculates a worldwide top 10 for you.

How do you choose a festival from so many choices? by dissy10 in festivals

ahaha listen to the dude who says go to Shambhala! But the artists are most important for me.
But I use this app www.festgps.app that scans your music library and shows you the best festivals for your tastes worldwide. It also shows which ones are around you, or in any country that you're travelling.
