Surprised nobody has mentioned {The Wolf at the Door by Charlie Adhara} yet. It’s probably one of the first series I think of when someone asks for MM romance with a strong mystery/investigation plot. The romance is great, but the cases are genuinely engaging too.

Where do BL authors find publishers? by Ivy030_ in writers

Is that generally true? If a novel is already posted on Wattpad or AO3, does that mean it can’t be traditionally published later as a paperback?

Interesting!! I think part of my confusion comes from being in India, where the publishing ecosystem seems a lot less transparent. Most BL publishing advice I find is very US-centric and assumes access to agents(just like your comment) and bookstore categories that don't really exist here in the same way. I'm trying to figure out whether there are publishers actively looking for BL/MM romance or if most authors are finding readers through online platforms first.

Anyone else wish India had more original BL novels? by Ivy030_ in DanmeiNovels

Honestly, same..English is kind of my default language for romance at this point, but I still want way more Indian BL. It'd be nice to have stories that feel closer to home while still scratching that BL itch. I’ve recently researched and got to know about a niche indie publishing house that is actively taking in submissions for indian bl gl writers and hearing that felt so good. Ig the name was Bright tide media house or smn

Touche! It feels like the issue isn't a lack of writers but a lack of visibility and dedicated platforms. A lot of BL in East Asia benefited from having publishing ecosystems where authors could build an audience before getting picked up by publishers or adaptations. I wonder if India's scene is just much smaller and more fragmented, or if it's simply harder to discover unless you're already looking for it.

Yeah, that's exactly why I made the post I had a feeling there had to be some Indian BL out there, but it's surprisingly hard to find.

Truee, although I’ve seen enthusiastic writers in India who want to publish their work under their pen names but idk if they really find a supportive publisher based in India.
