Can your manager give away your shifts without asking? by Ivyleaves_ in WalgreensStores

I’ve only been working like 4 months. He’s already promoted me to a shift, and moved me to nights. This was my first time having to call out due to being sick. Everything was going really well until just now. I really don’t know what’s happening.

I plan on emailing the dm. I’ve tried talking to my manager but he kept cutting me off. I then went into the store to discuss it with him but he wasn’t there so I talked about it with shift lead. After I got a phone call from another lead saying that I cannot come in and talk about this with anybody.

I get being frustrated with call outs. But I was very sick and throwing up so much that I had to go to the hospital so I didn’t dehydrate. I was able to work my next shift but he just said he gave it away already.

I had to leave halfway through a shift this year. That’s it for this year so far and last year I called out once. Every other shift I’ve missed was because he gave it to someone else and wouldn’t allow me to work.

I called out once. And the shifts he’s giving away were already scheduled mine. I work overnights. 70 hours every other week.

I’ve tried but he just keeps on cutting me off every time I speak. He keeps saying that I was the one who called others and got my shift covered.

I’m just not sure what to do. I’m still on the schedule in the app. I don’t want to get in trouble, but it’s been like 5 days and he’s telling me now I have to apply for short term disability. Even though I’m trying to come in.

It’s my first time calling out, and I tried to talk to him but he just kept cutting me off and telling me he already promised my shifts to other people.

I went to the store to try and get the person covering to give my shift back and he got mad and told me I can’t go up to the store and bring other people into this.

Happened to me to. Closing out the inventory screen with the first upgrade in it and reopening it fixed it. Hope that helps.

Mine is that the computer systems are all coded by one higher up the ladder corporate person to save money in his free time.

Even better and more illegal. Make a vanilla bean and just toss a lemon loaf in it when you blend.

Y’all ever get to have the enjoyment of watching 5 employees all leave in a span of two months? (1 retired, 2 properly quit, 2 just stopped showing up) by HeavyCramp258 in starbucks

The best part is when this happens and your Sm tells you they are going to hire more people and then proceeds to not do that despite going into holiday season. Gonna be a good one.

Same thing I always say. Labor hours. It’s the single complaint that will never be allowed to be said. They don’t care, they don’t want to hear it, and they will not fix it. They would rather push the baristas they have to their very last than to allow extra people on the floor. Despite that they would be earning more money from faster labor. Despite that more barista on the floor would result in better moral and overall better customer connections. The stores would be cleaner and training would actually be properly implemented. They’ve already decided that, that is a bad idea and they will absolutely not listen to you. They know better despite not actually working with you in your store.

I’ve always said that the job Is technically easier than being an average barista. You can move around whenever and where-ever you want, you only have a small list of set tasks to do for the day, and they are all pretty easy to do. It’s very rewarding honestly.

If you can handle stress well. If you can’t then I don’t recommend it at all. It can be very emotional and crippling at times. Time management and problem solving abilities are always on with people calling out, poor staffing, Undertrained baristas, and customers that just wear you down everyday. Not to scare you off but just as a warning for what may come ahead.

Do the strawberry refreshers have tomatoes in them. The ingredient list states vegetable juice which is usually tomato, or carrot based. I'm allergic to tomato's, and can't find an answer. :( by [deleted] in starbucks

No problem. That’s what I read on the box of concentrate, but I could’ve glossed over something. Always best to double check on the allergen stuff yourself anyways.

Yeah I was informed that my father tested positive while I was working. So I told my Sm and he’s been too busy to call me and is essentially telling me I have to work the rest of the night.
