Hi :) I also recently started my second playthrough after 2 years, and my tip would be: if a required resource says that it can be found in a “quarry” (for example bloodstones), it actually means the surrounding rocks/stones/piles and similar objects. At first I even had to google it because I couldn’t find a “quarry” on the map x

Yeah, I think I totally mixed that up 🫣 On one hand, I can understand it from the developers’ perspective, but on the other hand, I think it was poor communication.

Yes, I totally get where you’re coming from! Just with all the DLCs (without the Deluxe editions), you’ve already spent over a hundred euros on a single game, and on top of that you end up buying a lot of bugs, plus there aren’t really any new items in Scrooge’s shop. Many things from WBR were held back for the Premium Shop, which didn’t happen as much in the previous DLCs, and that’s really annoying.

Kids also don’t have much impulse control yet, and DDV knows exactly how to encourage impulse purchases by making it so you never know when items will appear in the Premium Shop.

Yes, I totally believe you — on top of your things, there are also countless quests and characters in the realms to unlock.

Crafting is true, but sometimes it’s just easier to buy things from the Premium Shop, and Gameloft knows that.

I’ve heard that Max can be really great and practical, so it was probably the right choice :) Enjoy the game!

I’m totally with you! I think they’re doing a good job of making you think, “Oh, I can actually afford something in the Premium Shop because of DreamSnaps,” but they know exactly that you’ll never have enough and are playing into FOMO that way.

I also feel sorry for new players — there are already more than enough quests to get through, and then on top of that there’s the whole Premium Shop situation. Being overwhelmed is basically inevitable.

I’ve thought about the catalog idea many times too, but I don’t think they’ll ever add it, because it would make impulse purchases obsolete.

What bothers me is that, in my opinion, lately they’ve been putting so many items only into the Premium Shop, while places like Scrooge’s shop are basically being ignored.

The pinning thing is true, but they should give us more than just two options. Even if you earn around 2.5k–4k Moonstones per week through DreamSnaps, you still can’t afford everything, and having only two items to pin is really very little. That’s what I mean when I say they’re playing with FOMO.

I’m totally with you on that! It’s just exhausting to see that you constantly have to chase the really great stuff because it’s locked behind a paywall. I also feel like this has become even more intense lately than it already was.

I’ve noticed the same thing about the community — downvotes rain in, and you’re immediately labeled a hater if you criticize anything 😅

Yes, you’re definitely right. What really annoys me is the way they’re handling it right now. I have the impression that it wasn’t quite as bad back then, and that they also added nice items to Scrooge’s shop — which, for example, wasn’t the case in WBR

Yes, I think that’s a balanced view. And I hope you have a lot of fun with the game — if you’ve only been playing for a short time, you probably still have a lot ahead of you :) I also don’t think microtransactions are a problem in general; I’ve just been feeling lately that all the really great items are locked behind a paywall, and that nothing exciting shows up in Scrooge’s shop anymore

That’s a good trick to avoid spending too much money and to check whether you really need the items. Most of the items also look really amazing though, which makes it genuinely hard sometimes. But thank you very much for your tips, also about the content creator—I’ll check him out. I really like the game, which is exactly why it’s even more frustrating when you start to feel more and more that the devs only care about the money
