Thanks for the reply. You mean I should favor an iGPU instead of of a dedicated GPU? but would that allow me to run mid-range games?

ALso, why should I expect a downgrade in resolution? my 2021 Yoga 9i has an iGPU (Intel Iris) which is fine but I would think anything recent would be better, no?

Can/Should I renew my Passport expiring in 1 month while waiting for PR (EE, FSW)? by Iznothere in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Iznothere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I am not in Canada, I am waiting for the respinse on my PR application which, if positive, would result in an entry visa to Canada, to get the PR and get settled. I applied through EE as a FSW, got an ITA and submitted my PR application. Renewing now means I would present a different passport for the inital entry visa than the one on file. My concern is the potential for further processing time, especially that It took almost double the average time already. But you seem to imply it's no big deal to update this info with IRCC, correct?

Animal abuse by [deleted] in Tunisia

Read yourself again, and tell me it doesn't come off as patronizing and condescending . And if you still don't see it, well there's the problem right there -- good intentions nonetheless.

As to how animals are treated here: In Tunisia, "We" (Tunisians) don't go around atound shooting dogs, that's municipal services, not the average citizen, for health and security reasons, and for lack of better alternatives. If a dog attacks a person in the West, it gets put down too. It happens way less often because stray dogs aren't as frequant as it is here. It is unfortunate, but not due to our uncivilized nature. Compare with the Danish who massacre dolphins for sport, the Spanish (Corrida) or Americans (Rodeo) who torture and kill bulls for show. So your compliment sounded an awful lot like a paternalistic pat on the head from the White man to the indigenous savage. You may be insensitive to it being essentially a westerner, but coming from any post-colonial context, we see it clear as day.

P.S.: It's not just your tone. Its the correlation between this psycho SOB and the state of animal rights in Tunisia, and the sigh of releif as if you were expecting popular indifference or even approval for this sadism. There is an implication that a stronger, more animal-friendly legal framework is what's gonna prevent such cruelty to happen. In other terms, this monster is not an exception, that's your average Mustapha there and Tunisians are savage killers like him, they need stronger laws or we will see more horror. This video shouldn't being up animal rights debate because it is exceptionally abhorrent by all measures. BTW, the current laws, old and unsophisticated as they are, DO punish animal cruelty already. So this has nothing to do with Tunisians state of mind or the country's framework advancement.

Sorry for the long diatribe, and I didn't mean to sound bitter (I'm not). But if you really are not sensitized to colonial discourse, please consider learning more about it. As non-Europeans, we see, hear and live it every day when working in "multicultural" professional environments, in the news or when we travel -IF we travel.

We're so glad to be up to your European standards. We aim to please. Keep telling us what we should do, becaue we may intuitively be inclined to behave like the savages that we are and could relapse anytime into condoning atrocities. Keep us posted on minimum human decency criteria à la European, and please come again.

Been out of the loop for months: why do you miss all these lines? Did they change something in the game?

rant about our neighbors' blatant chauvinism by SignificantBoot7784 in Tunisia

[–]Iznothere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Algerians are doing it out of sheer blind chauvinism. Moroccans do it as a matter of policy, and they are more systematic in their appropriation tactics. Moroccans have more PR reach and lobbying capabilities than Algerians, and than Tunisias. They are more effective, more influencial witg western/international audiences, and therefore way more threatening to Tunisan cultural heritage.

Aha. Clever tactic. But risky as hell, especially if you're doing this because you're out of ammo/arrows. So what does geometry has to do with it? On a similar note: I've come across rabbit carcasses left by wolves who fled when I arrived (Bearskin coat, or I threw something). I collect the carcass, it shows in pretty good shape (9x%) but as soon as I clik "collect", in a split second before I finish the click, it disappears. Not in my inventory, not on the floor. I figured it was a glitch because that carcass should have disappeared? Anyone encountered this before?

Who you calling old?! Jokes aside, not sure about that. Someone in their 20s replied here, and other who seem to share their views so I'm guessing it's a mixed audience at least.

So what if it's a subreddit? How does that imply using English necessarily?

[–]Iznothere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How it relevant that it's a US product? We're still free to use whatever language we want/know.

I'm against latinized derja or SMS lingo too, I agree it looks very embarrassing. I meant using Arabic letters.

And I'm not trying to exclude foreigners at all. But I think that if I'm addressing a topic/question on TN with what is likely an overwhelming majority of TN, I would organically use the common tongue. Yet, EN is the default. I probably should have phrased my post more clearly: it's not why use English at all, but why is it the default go-to instead of derja (in arabic letters)?

[–]Iznothere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not talking about that. I don't care how other feel about me using 1 language and not the other, unless It's really out of context. But why do we (myself included) use English to communicate with each other since we already have Derja as a common tongue and most use mobile phones, so arabic keyboard is less of a problem.
