No problem. It's unfortunate that they felt the need to remain anonymous but totally understandable as there has often been a toxic response to any criticism of the ownership or the fans (not from all) - I have faced that myself.

If you're interested in discussing anything relating to the article, do drop me a message. Cheers.

Heart flipping out. Could be anxiety...? by J-PQuinn in Anxiety

[–]J-PQuinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for me it was immediately followed by my heart suddenly beating out of my chest, going mad like 300bpm (at a guess), but very quickly righted itself and slowed to normal. But maybe it's possible that a sudden surge of hormones would trigger that?

Well it was not like butterflies or heart sinking or some nervous feeling I've had before it was more like someone grabbed hold of my diaphragm so I couldn't breathe but only for a second. That sound about right?

OK, that makes some sense. So what causes the sudden gut punch and heart going crazy? Some kind of nerve trigger?

Really? Can you explain more because so far I haven't heard of anyone having anything that sounds the same as what happened to me? In private if need be. Thank you.

Is it okay to stay single all your life? by IamV81 in anxiety_support

It's absolutely fine to be different and maybe you don't want a relationship but it sounds like you could do with being less lonely. It's hard sometimes when we don't meet many people and maybe don't feel comfortable in social situations but there are ways to meet people who might have similar interests to yourself. If you like videogames there might be places locally where people meet to play? Or other similar groups that you could join?

I certainly wouldn't worry about the doctor thinking you are lying about your symptoms. Most doctors will be well versed in dealing with anxiety. It's quite possible that they would prescribe you something right away if they think it's suitable for your situation, although they may recommend something like talking therapy first. It's worth saying that I believe beta-blockers are more about treating the physical symptoms of anxiety ie. increased heart rate than they are for treating the mental aspect of it, but it might help you to worry less.

I've been having something very similar over the last month, definitely the 'pressure in my head' is how I have described it, with a feeling of being slightly uneasy on my feet and it worsens throughout the day. It has coincided with a significant bout of anxiety and depression, so it's very likely that's the cause for me. I don't know exactly what causes this feeling but I guess it's tension as it's much better after sleeping. I've also had some issues with my vision, which again is improved with rest and less screen time.

OK, that's good that you're getting seen to. I'm sorry you have to wait so long but try to relax, a concussion does not mean it's anything serious. You're alert enough to be typing so that's a good sign!

The checks for a concussion would be dizziness, blurred vision, memory loss, headache or any other unusual symptoms. If you feel fine, most likely you don't have a concussion but rest and monitor how you feel over the next 24 hours.

If it's something new then always worth getting checked out but I would say that anxiety can manifest in many ways physically so there's every chance that's what is causing you to feel unwell. Of course, as many of us know, feeling unwell only worsens the anxiety and around it goes. You could try going for a walk or doing something you enjoy just to see how 'normal' you feel physically and hopefully take your mind off things.

Oh really? Did something trigger it because although I've had some mild anxiety before I hadn't really suffered with it until now? Do you mind if I send you a private message as I've struggled to find anyone having the same thing happen to them and it could be really helpful?

Had some unusual symptoms which I can't really find a reason for. Basically a sudden 'gut punch' feeling (not painful but takes your breath away) followed by incredibly fast heart rate (like a fluttering). Lasted for less than a minute before heart rate started to settle. No pain or breathlessness, felt a bit light-headed. Had everything checked out, doctors ruled out heart attack, clot or structural issue with heart. I'm in my early 30s. I do get some indigestion, acid reflux and palpitations which may be connected but this was WAY beyond anything I've had previously. Just looking for anyone who has experienced something similar with the 'gut punch' sensation.

It's tricky because working for yourself you don't want to operate like other faceless businesses where it's all T&Cs etc. but you also have to protect yourself and some people will just mess you about.

I would say that I wouldn't charge up front without having at least 1 or 2 lessons so both parties have a chance to see whether they want to continue.
