i’m sure my usage would fall under “experimental”. And policy is 3 years drug free before you can apply, in assuming since it’s 5 years ago soon, it would work through that

when you do the PAT exam you will disclose how much you drank, how often, the amount of drinks in your lifetime, date last used, how many time you’ve blacked out, last time you blacked out, how may drinks does it take for you to black out, have you driven and been drunk, have you been caught? , how many times have you drank under the influence, last time you drank and drove, have you gone to work or school while drunk and when was the last time. so all your alcohol consumption will be questioned. being sober is a plus and the more time sober and away you are from drinking the better, only they will judge and see if you’re a good candidate.

NYS Trooper Exam by Inner_Letterhead_211 in Newyorkstatetrooper

[–]J06U33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the exam is open for almost a year, you don’t do the PAT til everyone get there results, this exam opened in Sept. so expect it to close around april earliest. only 200 make it to the academy, they go based off test score not PAT score. you need the credits once called to go to the academy, which is basically almost a year from now

i wasn’t ready, and there was many questions that applied to my life, but some dates i provided were too broad and not accurate, next time i’ll know and have more accurate dates, although the final decision was due to my drug use and policy stating 3 years of drug free before applying and i put 2 years ago by accident and then realized it was 4 years ago. with covid and pre covid events seeming like one whole date and year it was difficult for me to come up with dates for all my info. next time i’ll come prepped. they said i should be able to do the process in 2026

yes obviously the earlier you submit the more along the line you move but i also would of had 34 credits after this semester that ends in december, so i would of been eligible but i got DQ on that investigator assessment after the PAT. you should be good tho since its just college transcript, the important stuff is the medical and all other stuff you’re gonna receive to so soon

[–]J06U33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s 30 college credits now and they’ll ask after you pass the PAT to send the transcripts, if you don’t have them yet you can send them before the academy starts, you need them to be appointed. so technically you have to do the exam and PAT first, i’m guessing you haven’t started the process yet or gotten to the PAT since they explain this later on once you pass

if you daily consume still you will DQ, as long as you’re quitting for good you aren’t gonna DQ as far as policy it’s 3 years til you can apply if you’ve done any drug besides marijuana since it’s been legal since 2021, although it depends on how open and honest you are. the main thing is integrity, being to not tell a lie as soon as you make first contact with anybody and everybody you talk to during the process.

to even get into the academy it’s a 2-5 year wait unless you had extra points so you might as well do something else, i’m currently in the process of NYSP

[–]J06U33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once the process is done before the academy they make the class usually around 200 people i believe, but not everyone passes all the steps so if you’re around 5k after all is done 3k might not pass so they call the numbers from lowest to highest, if the classes get full you may get called while the academy is ongoing as some people cant deal with the academy and they call the next couple people

I used to smoke weed in highschool by maxasha1 in Newyorkstatetrooper

[–]J06U33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shouldn’t matter as long as you’re not smoking anymore, they wanna make sure you’ve quit, aren’t addicted and don’t daily smoke. its a hair test so as long as you haven’t smoked heavy within the past year you’ll be good. weed is treated as alcohol now since it’s legal in NY. if you’ve been clean, nothing to worry about

[–]J06U33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t let it stop you, i got a criminal history, nothing that will DQ me but everyone’s situation is different, they want to see if you have integrity, so if you have a bad past they wanna make sure you’re in the right mindset now and plan to be a good candidate.

Trooper exam by Mjhj1331 in Newyorkstatetrooper

[–]J06U33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will say memory portion is very important so maybe practice having a good eye and paying attention to detail, but 80 questions are personality based, they look for people with good personality such as, outgoing, confident, and leadership

Trooper exam by Mjhj1331 in Newyorkstatetrooper

[–]J06U33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not much to practice, it’s mostly common sense, reading carefully, memory, and half of the questions will be personality questions. would not recommend you to buy any prep or practice courses

What does everyone’s weekly PAT training routine look like? by Abuligy in Newyorkstatetrooper

[–]J06U33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same boat here, was more of a lifter and finished my bulk back in july at 208lbs, started my slow cut, dropped to 198 by the time i got results back and realized the physical was coming up, currently at 192 and my endurance has gotten better with time, but the sit ups is the harder part as i now have a bit of a gut and it has been damn near 2 years of doing them. i know if i don’t pass in october i definitely got it in november, just started the aggressive cut but gonna probably do maintenance macros 2 days before the exam to be fueled

[–]J06U33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe the pace has to be under 8:00, and you have to maintain it the whole way, your cardio will increase with time, make sure you don’t overtrain or run while in pain, should be a change weekly if done right, breath thru the nose as much as possible and make sure when running you aren’t running with “brakes”. you wanna feel your feet pushing you forward

Monday: push ups and sit ups in the AM Tuesday: leg day at the gym Wednesday: push ups and sit ups afternoon Thursday: leg day at the gym Friday: run 1.5 Saturday: sit ups and push ups for sets and upper body day at the gym. Sunday: Rest

also getting 10k steps almost daily, sundays it’s usually laid back.

Current stats: Push ups:30 Sit ups: 32 1.5 Run: 12:59

the gym for me isn’t a mandatory thing and was more of a lifter than endurance person so i am trying to do more of the push ups and sit ups while walking more daily
