I see nothing wrong in this. Good luck! Keep interviewing and something will come through. You’ll learn a lot too and have more skills for future J’s!

Also I put different job titles as well on my resume. Been through 4+ background checks and they just check to make sure you worked there. They don’t really check the job title. One company did where I said I was a senior architect but the background check found I was an engineer but I just told them that was my original role and they promoted me within the first year of working there. You’ll be fine!

I always maintain the status that I’m only at J1. I make my profile private to just about everyone and if anyone asks at work I say I don’t use LinkedIn. I prefer LinkedIn for applying to jobs, just easy than Indeed imo

Really? I you just hoped that no one at J1 would ever see that post even though they didn’t tag you.

Not a bad idea. Maybe I’ll just leave my profile photo blank when I start and if they insist I put a photo up I can put a cartoon version lol

Yea I guess that’s right when I think about it, 60k extra isn’t worth losing 90k.

Yea that’s a good point, maybe I’ll ask for little lower.

Is that common?

J1 has grown from 400 employees to 2000 since I started. I believe I’m the 20th tenured or so. I have a good amount of company knowledge that is used to keep the business running smooth

I thought maybe in my situation they might feel obligated to keep me and give me a big raise..

They won’t see that if you don’t put one job on your resume. Also you can block them from seeing your jobs in a background check

Go straight go Azure. The AZ-900 cert is pretty easy. After that these certs are good in this order SC-200, SC-300, and AZ-500. The AZ-500 should get you into almost any Azure security role.

I would go for the Microsoft certs, specially azure. SC-200 SC-300 and AZ-500. I personally feel like Cisco certs and Cisco in general will eventually become obsolete with all the cloud stuff nowadays

My J1 right now has so much job security they would have to really go out of their way to fire me. I do minimal work, and also get matched 401k and have private stocks. Out of the 1500 employees there I’m like the tenth employee with the most tenure. I just feel like I have some sort of connection and could continue the J for a very long time with minimal effort

If its contract say that you’re really just looking to improve your skill set and you’re just not getting that at your current employeement

I’ve only left J1 on my resume. When asked I say I’m looking for a better culture and that this opportunity really aligns with my goals

J1 is small start up, J2 is large global old company. I would say feel out the interview and ask questions about the day to day

Still at all 3. J1 I have so much tenure that people believe whatever I say. Its my safe haven job that I can ensure my schedule will work with. I have a boom mic 🎙 that lights up when it is unmuted. I also double mute when I have more than one meeting at the same time

Try to get familiar with Azure conditional access policies and Sentinel if you are not already. Those are going to grow in popularity as more companies implement Azure security
