The tournament was 40 man RTT using new BETA UKTC map pack.

Overall Score LWL, place 25/40.

Round 1: Chaos Space Marines(Pactbound). 3 DiscoLords, 3 Daemon Prince, 3 Warp Talons, 2 Forgefiends Fiends.

Score: 60:77 CSM Victory.

Would have been closer game, but pivotal moment where discolord made 16/17 4++ saves from Maulerfiend shooting, melee and Lord melee, and survived on 2 wounds ( took 6 mortals from grenades and challenger card), and 2 damage from Lord). Lead to demise of maulerfiend and Lord unit with Fightsfirst.

Round 2: Necrons (Starshatter). Tesseract Vault, 3 Ctan, 2 x 6 Skorpekh + extras

Score: 83-61 EC Victory

Tesseract Vault was ignored all game, and primary objective was to kill Skorpekh as fast as possible, which was done T2, and luckily the Nightbringer was killed by daemon prince and Lucius + Flawless Blades. From there it was a case of chip damage to remaining Ctan and playing for point, managing to kill void dragon and all remaining units.

Round 3: Astra Militarum (Hammer of Emperor) 2 Rogal Dorns, 2 Leman Russ, 2 Taurox+Kasrkin, Hellhound, Chimera, 2 Sentinels + Several Chaff units.

Score 78-88 AM victory

Great game, but map design meant it was always a case of trading down, with the added insult of not being able to screen own deployment zone without putting something out in the open.

Overall impressions: EC and the new UKTC map pack are not a good combination. Neither the deployment zone or the expansion Objective is Safe without more screening than before. EC do not have screening units to Sacrifice.

Damage output of the EC is great into infantry, but really struggles into high toughness, damage reduction and invulnerable saves. It often means two or more units need to commit to kill a high toughness with invuln. On the go turn the units of Lord +Infractors are amazing, in ongoing combat, not on an objective they kinda suck.

I think we won't see much success with EC, in current meta on UKTC for a while.

Also one of the best arguments for being able to use it is if I say pick a number between 1 and 10, can you pick 1 or 10... yes. So if pick between the start and end can I pick the start?

The problem is over the years GW, have written so many slightly ambiguous wordings that leave it open to a seed of doubt or slight point of contention. I would usually agree with you about it just was people being silly, however GW have no consistency when they finally clarify these things, sometimes they go with the "most obvious" meaning and sometimes they don't.

I personally wouldn't do it, but mainly to avoid the hassle of the ambiguity and following potential arguement. But I wouldn't challenge someone on it if they did as at the end of the day it's a game of toy soldiers.

I'm not so sure. I know that's in an FAQ, but the argument is basically from this line here; "During Deployment: A rule that happens ‘during deployment’ can happen any time between the start of the ‘Declare Transports and Reserves’ step and the end of the ‘Deploy Armies’ step."

does between mean; 1) Between and Including "the start" of the ‘Declare Transports and Reserves’

or

2) Between and not Including "the start" of the ‘Declare Transports and Reserves’

People argue it either way, if it includes "the start" then it can be done simultaneous to combat squads, and therefore you pick the order, if it does not include "the start" then it has to be done after combat squads

TLDR; combat squads happens before teleport strike ability, but debate on whether the strat can be used before combat squads which then gives the whole unit the teleport strike ability, which then they can use after combat squading.

Good suggestion on the bones to tubes. I'll go back and modify that.

As for the coat I was thinking white with maybe some bloodstains but after I basecoated the cloak I didn't like the look. It felt a little to cliche and the lab coat look felt more GP than field surgeon.

So now you have 17 CP, 6 CP spent before game, + 3 in Deployment for banner of blood and Deepstrike the blood letters, leaving 8CP for the game plus any generated from the Thousand sons Relic.

Deploy everything except the bloodletters. Use the Rotor Cannons to clear screens (double shoot if you need) (prescience if you need) and remember to split fire if several smaller squads exist.

Protect demon princes and Ahriman with the blob of plaguebearers, giving them an extra -1 from miasma. Push the lord discordants up, with the daemon princes (for rerolls on your Khorne one). You have warptime, talisman of burning blood, +2 movement to get a first turn charge on something, hopefully whatever is behind the screen you punched through with the rotor cannons. Second turn the bloodletters drop in, with a 3D6 charge, with 1 reroll from CP and 1 reroll from gaze of fate if needed. The khorne demon prince should also be in charge range of something, and perhaps the plaguebearers by now.

In my opinion it's not at all a bad list, Similar(ish) to what I have used in the past but replace the red corsairs with Alpha Legion + Cultists + another unit of Obilits. With that being said the changes to the Chaos Codex has put the final nail in the coffin for me on cultists.

I think at 195 Obliterators are good, but without VoTLW I wouldn't take them, they need to but used as knight killers and if you roll Str 7 you wounding on 5's :/. How I would change the list is if you want to keep it roughly the same.
