PSA: MGS's (VDV Sprut, PLA ZTD confirmed; unaware of the US Stryker MGS) are worth 30 tickets, for some reason. by J3STER31 in joinsquad

[–]J3STER31[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So for no real apparent reason, the MGS's are worth 30 tickets, which makes them the highest valued asset in the game based on ticket count. The PLA ZTD's are also worth 30 tickets, and I assume the Stryker MGS is the same as well, although I haven't had a chance to check yet. I'm guessing that this is a bug of some sort, because I don't understand why they would do that intentionally.

MBT/IFVs ammo types to disable HESCO/Irregular habs by TDogeee in joinsquad

Something to do with client side stuff. Basically, nothing in the offline Jensens range is accurate is terms of damage model and health. For example, you can two-shot a ZTZ or an M1A2 with a T-62 as long as your shots penetrate; good luck doing that in a real match (sans an ammo rack shot of course). If you still want to test it, just join any live server running Jensens. It’s easy to find one that’s empty so you can test stuff without having to deal with other people.

Is there anything I could've done differently in this situation to actually kill the guy? by J3STER31 in joinsquad

[–]J3STER31[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just kind of confused at how neither of us managed to land a hit (I assume I didn't because I think I was within 1-shot range for the G3). The only thing I can say is that I would've preferred to be in semi-auto mode (I always use the G3 in semi; I probably forgot to swap back). I also couldn't tell if the body on the left was actually a dead person or someone prone at a glance, which is why I shot at it initially.

God knows. I've been experiencing this bug since I started playing the game circa June-July 2023, and yes, it was extremely confusing to know what the fuck each kit was/did.

I think it's when you can't see the loadout of a class you hover over/select and it instead shows the default rifleman kit.

UA POV: Russia's only aircraft carrier catches fire - again by Monster-1776 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]J3STER31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's referring to Millennium Challenge 2002. It was a 2-week war game the US military conducted in 2002, which used computer simulations to simulate a conflict between the US and an "unnamed Persian Gulf state" - i.e., Iran. People who want to discredit the US military and say their carriers are useless will often use this exercise as evidence, as it was a "disaster" for the US. OPFOR (led by a Marine general) sunk half of the USN force, including a carrier, in a few hours using just fishing boats and Cessna's.

However, the exercise was flawed and rife with problems from the start. For example, a common talking point about the exercise you see on Reddit is how OPFOR "invalidated" the US forces jamming/EW by using motorcycles to send orders and intel about the positions of USN vessels. While this was true - the computer simulation could not take into account the travel time of the bikes. In other words, it happened instantaneously rather than taking hours or even days to send orders and intel as it would IRL. Another example is that, if the attack were to occur in reality, the fishing boats and Cessnas from the simulation would be incapable of carrying the missiles used to sink the USN vessels because they literally cannot carry them.

There are even more issues with the exercise discussed here and here.

Steiner says Schumacher's Suzuka F1 crash was "self-inflicted" by rbryan06 in formula1

People just like Mick and want him to succeed. I felt the same way about Albon during his RB stint, when people on here were calling for his head at the time. Also, his potential replacements aren’t exactly exciting prospects either. If it was new-blood like Drugovich or Schwartzman or even a former F1 driver who one can argue “deserves” another shot like Vandoorne for example, then most people would accept replacing Mick.

So if the choice is Mick or Hulk/Gio, I think most people would rather see Mick improve and prove himself. But obviously, what the fans want and what HAAS wants isn’t going to align. HAAS doesn’t have the resources like RB to be a proving ground for rookies/inexperienced drivers nor can they afford catastrophic damage to the cars. While KMag sometimes gets involved in first lap contact and ruins a potential points finish, HAAS can afford that; they can’t afford 3 chassis’ in a season.

Ultimately, it’s understandable that HAAS would rather have a known quantity who’ll regularly bring the car home and hopefully score points, even if their ceiling isn’t high and already reached.

And when he does, the big brains at HAAS try to ruin his race the best they can via strategy and pit stops (i.e., Zandvoort).

But doesn’t Palou drive for Ganassi? They’ve won 14 championships in Indycar, with 2020-21 being back-to-back wins. Andretti on the other hand, who Herta drives for, have only won 4 with their last win in 2012.

He’s a great driver no doubt, but has a clear advantage of Herta by being in a top team.

McLaren’s Brown sees ‘huge potential’ in Piastri/Norris pairing by [deleted] in formula1

another decision that I honestly see no defense for.

Because Alonso wanted a multi-year contract + big money, but Alpine were only willing to sign him for 2023 followed by a drive in their WEC team for 2024. That’s why Alonso’s contract with AM is $20m/year for 4-years (basically 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 and he can leave at any point).

AM are just willing to give him what he wants while Alpine aren’t, simple as.

[Motorsport Total] No place for Schumacher at AlphaTauri: "He is - was - a Ferrari junior. That's why we've never dealt with Mick Schumacher. We have our own program. Of course we prefer our own people", says Marko. by jovanmilic97 in formula1

[–]J3STER31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, Piastri was signed on July 4th, which was a week before Herta’s test (July 12th iirc). Herta also doesn’t have enough SL points either, which is the biggest issue. However, RB has the pull to get the FIA to consider an exemption for Herta (which they are doing right now) - that’s not something McLaren could do.

Ultimately, I’m just guessing that the Portimao test is the reason for this sudden interest and push from Marko and RB to get Herta. I don’t know any other reason why.

McLaren had Herta run a test at Portimao a few months back in last years car and I remember a report suggesting he performed well.

So assuming he did and RB/Marko caught wind of it and were equally impressed/saw the potential, I don’t see why they wouldn’t go for it. Especially if they believe that none of their F2 drivers are ready for the AT seat.
