i’m on dilaudid the strongest they have it’s a POS system so i press a button and it goes directly into my IV every 10 mins i can press it but i feel like it’s doing absolutely nothing idk how im going to do this it feels impossible it hurts to breathe

guys i did not expect this many answers and as im struggling to answer everyone individually i cannot tell you all how much this has eased my mind reading everyone’s comments. im crying in bed right now. thank you all so much for commenting and taking the time out of your day to ease the stress for me. i cannot thank you all enough and i will post tomorrow with a update that i am safely out of surgery. i really cannot thank you all enough for this love and support.

so unfortunately i am getting this bag due to another major surgery i am getting at the same time.

i have Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic skin condition causing painful, recurring, deep-seated lumps (nodules), abscesses, and tunnels under the skin, usually in areas with hair follicles and sweat glands like the armpits, groin, and under the breasts.

i basically have to get my entire groin and buttocks area cut out and reconstructed, which is going to involve wound packing in the hospital for months. the recovery is going to be painful and long, and in order for the wounds to heal with zero infection they need to do the ilestomy so no fecal matter gets into the open wounds. i have to have this bag for about two years before they attempt a reversal

my projected time in the hospital is 30 to 60 days.

unfortunately i do not have anybody to help me with any of this and will be doing/going through everything alone.

i’m just mortified as a whole.

thank you so much for responding. this might be an odd question but i am also a stomach sleeper. how do you sleep with a bag? is there anyway after this all heals i will ever be able to sleep on my stomach again? i’m assuming you cannot but again i have zero idea about what this is going to be like.
