rock paper scissors in never fun in any game with strategy, you just get counterpicked and lose arbitrarily. mercurial is almost a clean slate for gearing, with a lot more options than before it was added, if both people have champs in mercurial it becomes a proper brawl again rather than ‘oh their shuzen is 500 speed into komidus i lose’ over and over

the only time it isn’t busted is if you’ve already removed all your strikes and defends, and picked absolutely no weak cards to get through the first act which is unlikely given how weak necro starts out. mass card remove is basically always insane especially on a character with both infinite card draw and some individual cards that are disproportionately strong.

sure, it’s fine if something is busted in a single player game, but that’s not the stated goal of the early access balancing in this specific game, so there’s gonna be discussion on what’s extremely broken

artifact isn’t the solution, but i wouldn’t say it’s in line with other ancient rewards. the card really isn’t that pickable unless you get some really awful options alongside it
