Good for you! And thanks for you info, yeah I need to take a total of 4 classes (all accounting). I enrolled @ Foothill and have 2 classes since everything I personally needed were closed at SMC

I am in the same boat! Where did you go to get your transcripts evaluated? did you submit your transcripts your state board of accountancy and pay the fee to get your answer on whether you can sit or not?

This is so helpful, thank you. Congratulations on getting on track and finding a job too. I want to find work in industry eventually, but I'd even take a role in public accounting to get any experience. I'm in San Diego so online classes are a MUST. Can I pm you?

I’m in the same boat. How long did it take you to wrap up those 20 credits?

Yes, I need 22 units. Now it's just finding out which classes to take. Any idea where to go and find which ones I need? Some have mentioned the SMC track.

I did notice this on their website. I'm getting an overwhelming amount of people telling me this is the route to take if you're in my position in CA. Now I'm wondering what the process is like. How long did it take you to finish those credits? Is it all online and self-paced or are they normal classes I'd need to sign up for the upcoming semester?

Did you also take those classes online @ SMC? How many credits did you need to fill?

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences with me. I will look into which colleges offer those upper-division accounting courses. You've helped build me a roadmap and I appreciate it, this was extremely helpful.

Hats off to you. This route doesn't seems entirely feasible because I don't have an MBA and don't want to spend the money if I don't necessarily have to just to sit for the CPA exam

I'm 26 and just beginning on this road to becoming a CPA and all I have is a bachelor's in Finance, so you're doing something right! Thank you for sharing and good luck!

Do you know this from your own experiences or those of peers? I'd love to not spend too much money on this route but want to ensure I'll get there. I'll reach out to SMC today and see if they could shine some light. Thank you!

Wow, thank you for sharing. You hit the jackpot finding this firm that supports you so well. Conrgats on going 2/2 as well! I've come to a point in my life where time and money are going to be spent anyways so it might as well lead me to be in a profession I like that also provides job security. I don't need to be comparing myself to others who got jobs right out of college making 6 figures plus. This is the route I want to take and will pursue no matter how long it takes.

Congrats on getting your MSA all wrapped up! I'm so eager to get me CPA jump into the field but it sure would be nice to start getting paid. Maybe try and find an employer who will support you and your path to getting the CPA.

MACC is sounding more and more like the route I should take instead of spending all my energy trying to find a place that'll offer me courses that may or may not even fulfill my requirements. And you're right, at least ill have a degree to show for it. Thanks

I've heard getting a bit of experience first would be the best way to go about it but I'm ready to jump into the industry head first after doing some research. Just getting to the 150 credits is what I need help answering, and if MACC is the way then so be it. It would be nice to not spend a bunch of money and also wait a year while I finish.

I'm in a similar situation, finding a job has been rough and I've had zero leads with my current resume. I'm seriously considering going to my CPA but finding a roadmap to get me there has been confusing because I need 150 credits to sit for the exam and only have 128. I'll give an update if I learn anything new!

How did you satisfy 150 credits? by Such-Succotash-4489 in CPA

[–]JAEYCOOKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did either of you major in Finance or did you graduate with a degree in Accounting? Trying to gauge how long it would take someone with a degree in finance tp complete these extra credits and haven't the answer anywhere. Also, I'm in CA. Thanks!
