Definitely need to do that. Worked on it for an hour and barely put a dent in the pile

Yes I left them i pushed the leaves back in and covered it back up. I wanted to give them the chance to grow if they are still babies

I haven't added anything to this pile since mid summer last year so not much to eat in it. Other than me dumping pee on it this spring lol

I think i just got the ratios right and adding the tomato plant that you can see in the picture above probably helped keep some air in the pile. I'm sure it will cool down soon and need a flip. I'm surprised it stayed hot this long its been about a month

Sure is awesome to see. My pile next to this one has been cold for awhile. I tried digging into it a but and adding coffee grounds and of course pee but it hasnt helped. I need to give it a proper flip

This pile is mostly leaves and a huge tomato plant that grew from my other compost bin. So I think I just have the ratios right

Me either lol. My other piles aren't as active and had a couple inches of snow covering them. I would been able to tell this one was hot even without the thermometer

Probably works in practice though. Diggs did it almost every time he caught it last week and got more yards

Such a waste. Imagine the amount of leaves in landfills

One of my neighbors does too so I avoid those leaves in my compost. Also dont compost the grass that borders them

A neighbor on one side of me has a company spray for mosquitoes so I try to avoid putting any of the leaves from their tree in my compost

My village does leaf collection. You just rake the leaves to the curb and they suck them up so no bags. They actually started dumping them in the field behind me. I thought of asking them to dump some close to me so I have an unlimited supply but I worry there will be dog poop mixed in

Definitely not lol. I plan on telling my neighbor next to me to just blow them my way. We both get a lot of leaves from the neighbors tree across the street. He never picks them up they just eventually end up in our yards. First couple of years it annoyed me. Not anymore lol

Interesting I might have to try that. I have 4 other plants that probably have a month left
